JOB SUMMARY

Support teachers by designing and developing the engaging, effective curriculum content they need to bring high-quality computer science education to students around the country and the globe.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Content development: Develop and refine complex computer science curriculum content for students in grades 6-12, ranging from single lessons to multi-week progressions. This includes creating curriculum designs using a backward design approach and aligned with standards, coding levels, teacher and student resources, assessments, and surveys. Development may require collaboration with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure relevance and impact in middle and high school settings.

  • Iteration: Regularly incorporate feedback from peers, teachers, students, subject matter experts, and classroom observations. Focus on continuous improvement to ensure high-quality, engaging content that meets student learning goals, especially for middle and high school students.

  • Data-driven content improvement: Analyze student engagement and learning metrics to refine content for grades 6-12. Ensure that the curriculum fosters student engagement and meets or exceeds learning metric goals.

  • Professional learning support: Collaborate with Professional Learning Content Developers to align curriculum content with teacher-focused learning experiences.

  • Team collaboration: Act as a constructive and positive team member. Provide thoughtful, creative engagement, and constructive feedback to peers.

  • Implement culturally responsive pedagogy: Incorporate research-based best practices for culturally-responsive pedagogy to build engaging and approachable lessons for all students (particularly young women and underrepresented groups) and their teachers.

  • Content expertise: Stay up-to-date on the latest computer science content, pedagogy, and best practices in CS education for grades 6-12. Share knowledge with the team, present at conferences, and contribute to discussions that advance computer science education for middle and high school students.

  • Experience developing computer science lessons for use by self and others (e.g., across multiple districts or at a state level)

  • Ability to design a multi-week sequence using a backward design approach for 6-12 computer science curriculum

  • Understanding of and dedication to equity, best practices to support equitable classroom environments, and gender- and culturally-responsive teaching practices

  • Ability to create engaging, student-centered learning experiences that are adaptable across a variety of learners and teaching environments

  • Ability to analyze data on student engagement and learning outcomes to refine and improve curriculum content

  • Experience managing multiple tasks and competing priorities while consistently delivering high-quality content on time and within scope, with minimal supervision
