Staff / Senior Backend Software Engineer - Python

How you’ll help us achieve it:

• We believe strongly in building teams that can orient around a well-defined mission and are equipped to execute autonomously against that mission. We count on you to collaborate with your team to build and support our platform and products used by customers sending money transfers from 50+ countries into 150+ markets worldwide. We are looking for engineers who have experience in one or more technologies/programming languages and the desire to learn new ones on the job.

• A staff engineer focuses on high impact, high value work which likely involves solving our largest and most ambiguous problems. They are able to break down long term projects and mobilise teams to deliver them. As a technical authority, with influence across multiple teams, disciplines, domains, they proactively drive cross team initiatives

What you bring to the table: 

• You can augment the long-term architectural vision for the platform, focusing on scalability, performance, and security.

• Be a champion for high-quality code that adheres to best practices through conducting comprehensive code reviews and delivering constructive feedback, with special emphasis on unit, integration and acceptance testing

• Solid and demonstrable experience with system design and architecture

• You are a system design enthusiast and have experience designing and transforming existing systems collaboratively to make them scalable, maintainable and reliable.

• You work well with Engineering and Product members and are comfortable building effective relationships with stakeholders outside technology.

• An open mind with respect to diversity and inclusivity. Our team (and customers) come from all over the world.

• Backend services: Python, Java (SpringBoot and SpringCloud)

• Mobile apps: Native apps;  iOS-SwiftUI, Android-Kotlin. We have both React Native and Native mobile apps for our different brands 

• Public Cloud: AWS and GCP

• CI/CD tooling: CircleCI, ArgoCD, Jenkins, 

• Container orchestration: Kubernetes

• IaC: Terraform

• API Gateway and Service Mesh Architecture

• Databases: PostgreSQL, NoSQL

Bonus Points if you:

• Have worked at a scaling startup previously.

Please be aware that this role may require out of hours on-call.
