Staff Analysts are responsible for setting the standard for how data and analytics are performed and consumed within Operations and across HubSpot. This is an individual contributor leadership role, intended to reflect individuals who have the demonstrated capability of taking cross-functional, complex, and mission-critical projects and delivering success.
HubSpot’s Operations team is the beating heart of the company - in addition to owning performance measurement, process improvement, strategy & planning across most functions, Ops is also home to 120+ analysts. We are building a new team to drive analytics excellence across Ops, and looking for a veteran analyst with a passion for teaching and team enablement to work directly with the Sr Director of Analytics to shape this vision. As HubSpot scales its data and analytics capabilities, it’s become critical to spotlight best practices from across the org, and follow through with support and enablement so they are actually adopted by other analysts. With a large and diverse population of analysts, this is critical to ensuring more time is spent generating insights, with less time lost due to the wrong tool for the job.
As Staff Analyst, Analytics Enablement you will work across the organization to identify these best practices, and get them rolled out. You’ll partner with ops teams supporting almost every HubSpot function, and build an analyst enablement program that supports a scaled, globally distributed team.
General responsibilities:
Work with managers of analysts to deeply understand what their teams do, where they excel, and where there may be opportunities for improvement with the introduction of new skills, techniques or tools
Construct training and onboarding programs for technical skill development (eg querying Snowflake with SQL; data manipulation in Python; basics of LookML); this could mean building curriculum yourself, identifying industry certification programs or curating online courses, or getting other analysts to contribute
Work with recruiting to ensure analytics hiring processes are screening for the right skills
Drive analyst-led ceremonies for knowledge sharing, peer mentorship, code review, etc
Support managers of analysts in calibrating on technical skill evaluation to ensure we’re setting a consistent performance standard across the organization
Work with the Sr Director of Analytics to shape a sustainable program including future resourcing and responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications:
Academic or professional experience with a heavy quantitative, analytical focus
Masters or PhD in quantitative field not required, but a great indicator
~5 years minimum professional experience for most candidates
Track record of driving organization-wide impact in a business environment, influencing decision-making with data; ideally working with cross-functional, executive (C-level) stakeholders
Experience with enterprise-scale analytics architectures built for a variety of applications (beyond SQL transformations/reporting)
Ability to write performant, complex SQL queries combining multiple sources of data
Expertise with data analytics and statistical tools such as R or Python
Confidence with a variety of analytical and statistical techniques; expertise with a subset
Excellent communication, storytelling, and collaboration skills
Demonstrated passion for teaching, mentoring, or developing teams - particularly without direct management
Cash compensation range: 160,000 - 190,000 USD Annually This resource will help guide how we recommend thinking about the range you see. Learn more about HubSpot’s compensation philosophy from Katie Burke, HubSpot’s Chief People Officer. The cash compensation above includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are based on a few different factors unique to each candidate, including their skills, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons. We know that benefits are also an important piece of your total compensation package. To learn more about what’s included in total compensation, check out some of the benefits and perks HubSpot offers to help employees grow better. At HubSpot, fair compensation practices isn’t just about checking off the box for legal compliance. It’s about living out our value of transparency with our employees, candidates, and community.
