What You Will Do

Your mission will be standardising and processing configuration data and developing systems that accurately replicate game logic, generating reliable simulation outcomes that help the economy team predict, validate, and understand the impact of changes by combining real player data with advanced simulations.

You will partner closely with Game Economists, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Game/Server Engineers to ensure a balanced, fun, and sustainable experience for millions of players, ideal for someone who loves understanding how complex systems work.

  • Lead a team of Engineers, setting clear expectations and providing continuous feedback, coaching, and mentoring to ensure success and growth

2. Data Modeling & Analysis

  • Design standardized data models for Economy and LiveOps features, finding commonalities and relations between different features

  • Transform raw game data into analytical datasets for simulation and evaluation

  • Collaborate with Game Economy to define KPIs, progression metrics, and economic models

3. Simulation & Game Logic

  • Build tools and code that accurately replicate in-game mechanics to validate and experiment with configurations

  • Build validated simulation engines capable of modeling full player progression and event cycles

  • Create reusable libraries enabling designers/economists to run simulations without engineering support

4. Integration with Real Player Data

  • Extract, process, and combine data from BigQuery or other data warehouses

  • Validate that simulations reflect real player behavior and outcomes

  • Automate the creation of datasets required for future analyses

 5. Scalability & Compute Systems

  • Build pipelines and systems to run millions of simulations efficiently

  • Optimize workloads using Spark, Dataproc, Airflow, DBT, or similar frameworks

  • Maintain high code quality with proper testing, observability, and reproducibility

What We’re Looking For

  • 6+ years as part of a professional game development team or other relevant area

  • Experience managing people, driving 1:1s and performance reviews, doing follow ups and providing regular feedback to direct reports

  • Experience driving and leading the technical execution of complex and interdisciplinary developments

  • Strong proficiency in Python or C# (required): classes, testing, simulation, optimization

  • Solid experience with SQL and at least one data warehouse (BigQuery preferred)

  • Knowledge of probability, applied statistics, and simulation techniques

  • Experience with distributed processing tools: Spark, PySpark, or alternatives

  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using Airflow, DBT, or similar frameworks

  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure

  • Great tech communication skills, who knows how to share knowledge with non-technical people

  • A strong interest in leveraging AI-assisted tools (LLMs, copilots, automation frameworks) to improve productivity, enhance analysis depth, and accelerate iteration cycles

Bonus Points

  • Experience in gaming, monetization, or game economy

  • Familiarity with gameplay logic or LiveOps systems

  • Experience developing internal libraries or tools for non-technical teams

  • You’ve mentored less experienced team members

  • Curious about experimenting with AI systems to extend the capabilities of existing pipelines or prototype new evaluation methods

Who you are

  • You’re passionate about understanding how complex systems work

  • You feel comfortable working between technical teams (Data/Server) and design teams (Economy/Product)

  • You enjoy replicating mechanics, experimenting, and testing ideas

  • You are detail-oriented, methodical, and love finding inconsistencies or improvements

  • You take pride in building features that reach and impact millions of players

  • You value environments where meaningful contributions stand out, appreciating a merit-driven culture where your improvements are truly noticed

  • You excel when given autonomy and comfortable defining internal standards

  • You’re excited about integrating AI into your day-to-day work, using it as a multiplier for creativity, speed, and problem-solving

At Scopely, we believe in creating a supportive work environment where everyone is treated with respect and inclusivity. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds and are committed to providing equal employment opportunities regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected status.
