This data is used by Product, Data Science, Engineering, and Leadership to monitor the health and performance of our products, and to inform optimization and long-term strategic decisions.

As part of this team, you are a curator of product data at Dropbox. You are focused on designing and building solutions to collect high quality, standardized data and transforming them into insights surfaced through dashboards, business intelligence tools, and other data platforms. Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce best practices for tagging events, validation, and lifecycle management to maintain data consistency and availability

  • Integrate standardized event logging with downstream data pipelines and analytics tooling for insights and metrics consumption, and manage its quality at varying levels of aggregation

  • Guide product managers, engineers, and data scientists through all phases of product instrumentation, including event discovering, spec building, implementation, and validation

  • Build automated solutions to validate the quality and integrity of all product event logging

  • Devise a scalable data audit process to ensure event attributes and values map back to business objectives

  • Partner with Data Platform on a data governance framework

  • Train partner teams on how to build a healthy culture around product instrumentation

Requirements

  • Deep familiarity with industry standard web/mobile analytics and BI tools, including but not limited to Google Analytics, Snowplow Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, etc.

  • Solid knowledge of data collection practices, product instrumentation, event tagging, building data taxonomies, and how to integrate data with downstream processing and analyses

  • Ability to translate metric definitions into analytics logging requirements in clear and precise technical terms

  • Experience collaborating with technical stakeholders across Product and Engineering

  • Expertise in SQL, python, and spark to get the job done

  • Possesses a keen eye for detail and passion for driving high data quality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Databricks

  • Experience conducting exploratory analyses on large datasets and summarizing complex information in an easy to understand way
