Job Overview:

At Coursera, our Data team is helping to build the future of education through data-driven decision-making and data-powered products. We drive marketing, product and business strategy by ensuring high-quality data, measurement, experimentation, and causal inference. 

We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and experienced Senior Manager to lead our newly formed Data and Analytics Enablement team. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Data Science, this role will play a pivotal role in shaping strategies and initiatives to enable other Data Science teams and partners with reliable data, automation, business intelligence, and reporting at Coursera. The successful candidate will lead a dynamic team of data analysts, business intelligence analysts, and contractors in India, interacting primarily with other Data Science teams located in North America (NAMER) to drive business growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Scale and lead the Data and Analytics enablement team that harnesses the power of data to inform business decisions and deliver business results by delivering reliable data, scalable reporting and automation. 

  • Increase self-service capabilities and data visibility through the development and maintenance of reports, Amplitude & Looker dashboards, data cubes, and ongoing analyses. Continuously think about how to improve the analytics infrastructure for the team with high-quality scalable pipelines and automate processes.

  • Collaborate closely with all vertical Data Science teams and business stakeholders (as needed) to understand their requirements and translate them into technical roadmaps for data enablement initiatives, identify opportunities for automation or process acceleration and deliver effective data products.

  • Oversee large data migration projects, including but not limited to Redshift to Databricks migration, ensuring a seamless transition and optimal performance.

  • Lead the team in developing scalable core reporting solutions for key company metrics and KPIs, building reliable reporting data layers (i.e. explores in Looker), building automated data pipelines for user segmentation and audience creation,  instrumentation of eventing data and ensuring accurate data collection for actionable analytics.

  • Manage a team of 5-10 data analysts, ensuring successful project execution and initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • 8+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related roles, with 3+ years of managerial experience.

  • Proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, Amplitude, or Power BI.

  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience working with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully managing teams and driving projects to completion.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience at EdTech or Content Subscription business.

  • Experience leading large company-level data initiatives, such as data migrations.

  • Proficiency in utilizing external marketing platforms such as Google Adwords and Meta Ads for marketing operations; Braze - for marketing campaign orchestration.

  • Proficiency in Python, or other programming languages commonly used in data analysis and data engineering.

  • Experience working with Salesforce data.

  • Experience with Airflow, Databricks.
