About this role:
The Senior Purchasing Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing category strategies for Information Technology, Software‑as‑a‑Service (SaaS), and Travel & Expense categories. This role partners closely with IT, Finance, Legal, Security, HR, and business stakeholders to optimize spend, manage supplier relationships, mitigate risk, and deliver sustainable cost savings while enabling business growth and innovation.
The position requires strong strategic sourcing expertise, commercial acumen, and the ability to influence at senior levels across a complex, fast‑paced organization.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Sourcing
Develop and execute multi‑year category strategies for IT hardware, software, SaaS subscriptions, cloud services, telecom, and travel programs
Lead end‑to‑end strategic sourcing initiatives including RFx, negotiations, supplier selection, and contract execution
Drive measurable value through cost savings, demand management, standardization, and value‑added supplier initiatives
Stay current on market trends, emerging technologies, licensing models, and supplier landscapes
Stakeholder Partnership
Serve as a trusted procurement advisor to IT leadership, Finance, Legal, Security, HR, and business units
Balance cost, risk, service levels, and innovation while supporting business objectives
Influence requirements early in the buying cycle to ensure optimal commercial outcomes
Supplier & Contract Management
Manage strategic supplier relationships and performance for key IT, SaaS, and travel vendors
Lead contract negotiations including MSAs, SaaS subscriptions, licensing, SLAs, renewals, and amendments
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements
Proactively manage renewals, usage optimization, and vendor rationalization
Governance, Risk & Compliance
Support third‑party risk, information security, and data privacy reviews
Track spend, savings, and supplier performance metrics
Ensure alignment with internal controls, travel policies, and audit requirements
Travel Category Management
Own corporate travel programs including airlines, hotels, ground transportation, TMCs, and expense platforms
Partner with Finance and HR to enforce travel policy compliance and enhance employee experience
Identify opportunities to optimize travel spend and improve program effectiveness
About you:
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required
10-12 years relevant experience in strategic sourcing required
Knowledge and previous experience in the indirect areas including consulting services, human resources, IT, legal services, facility services and accounting services
Experience with ERP System QAD and manufacturing processes is preferred.
Candidates for this position must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and be comfortable with other computer systems including the internet and database programs.
Candidates must have a confident and consistent approach to customer and vendor contact.
This position requires strong negotiation skills, communication skills, and fluency in English.
Organization and attention to detail are vital.
Self-starter, fast learner, and strong collaborator: there is no job too big or too small if it contributes to the company’s goals and makes our business better
Medical Device, Pharma, or Biotech experience; understanding of ISO 13485 and FDA regulations is a plus.
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient privacy is a plus.
Up to 20% travel may be required.

Estimated Pay Range
$131,000.00 - $170,000.00
