The Community You Will Join:

The Tax Experience team solves some of the most challenging and unique problems faced by our business and our customers. We are a cross functional team who own user-facing products virtually every Host or Guest on Airbnb interacts with, and our mission is to remove friction from the user journey while protecting Airbnb’s ability to operate worldwide.

As a Software Engineer, you will help us meet this challenge with innovative solutions that enable business agility, efficiency, and accuracy. You are eager to understand complex systems top to bottom and thrive working across technologies and codebases. In addition, you will excel at solving a range of complex problems, developing end-to-end features, and strengthening your domain knowledge over time

Together, we’ll pioneer innovative ways to deliver faster, more accurate, and higher-quality outcomes for Airbnb and its users.

A Typical Day: 

  • Write code, owning end to end features as part of large, crucial products on our roadmap
  • Work collaboratively with your core team on solution design, implementation details, and operational excellence
  • Execute on new ideas that will enable us to build products that can more effectively adapt to fluid or ambiguous business needs

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2-4+ years industry experience
  • Prior real-word experience and demonstrable knowledge in any of Java, Kotlin, Scala, Python, Go, Rust, C/C++/C#
  • Able to communicate well with a wide variety of cross functional partners such as Legal, Customer Support, Experience Design, etc.
  • Skilled at managing initiatives with ambiguous or rapidly shifting requirements
  • Able to contribute to the enrichment of the general engineering culture of the wider organization
  • Experience with Tax, Compliance, Finance, or similar domains highly desirable, especially DAC7, OECD Model Rules, KYC, VAT, etc.

The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
