The Role
Bitly is looking for a Platform Engineer I to contribute to building and evolving our infrastructure to become more cloud-native and globally distributed. You will have a profound impact on the engineering org’s strategy and culture, ensuring that people are able to move faster through technology. You’ll leverage existing technologies and bring some opinions of your own to the discussion to improve the engineering ecosystem.
What You'll Do
Assist in designing, building and maintaining the infrastructure and platform services we run, under the guidance of senior engineers, in order to continue evolve our systems
Leverage Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to modernize and scale Bitly’s platform and infrastructure and support our 24x7 reliability and availability guarantees
Continuously improve the way containerized workloads are deployed and managed
Design, build and maintain internal tools and processes that facilitate developer workflows (deployment, CI/CD)
Design, build and maintain internal tools and libraries that will improve observability (i.e logging, monitoring, and tracing)
Work with members across the engineering team to improve and evolve the way services are designed and operated across our engineering team
Who You Are
At least 1 year of experience as an engineer or individual contributor with some experience on a platform team (or related responsibilities)
Fluency in Golang (we're a Golang-heavy shop). Alternatively, experience in Python with willingness to focus in Go.
Exposure to Kubernetes (GKE, ECS, native Kube, etc.) in a production environment
Understanding of Linux and TCP/IP network fundamentals
Exposure to running services such as load balancers, relational databases, messaging systems and container-orchestration systems
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc) a plus
