🌟 Role Mission

The Backend Software Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and evolving the architecture of our backend services, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and highly available. You will collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and security teams to define best practices, guide development efforts, and ensure system performance at scale.

Your mission is to create robust, efficient, and resilient backend architectures, leveraging microservices, event-driven patterns, and cloud-native technologies to support millions of users globally.

🛠️ Responsibilities

🔹 Backend Architecture & Scalability

• Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend architectures.

• Define and implement microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures.

• Ensure backend services are optimized for performance, reliability, and security.

• Provide guidance on best practices for backend development and system design.

🔹 Cloud & Infrastructure Strategy

• Work closely with Cloud Engineers to ensure seamless AWS-based deployments.

• Optimize system architecture for cost efficiency, scalability, and fault tolerance.

• Implement observability practices using tools like Datadog, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry.

🔹 Security & Compliance

• Ensure backend services follow security best practices (authentication, authorization, encryption).

• Work with the security team to enforce secure coding standards and API protection.

• Ensure compliance with industry regulations (GDPR, PCI-DSS, SOC 2, etc.).

🔹 Technical Leadership & Mentorship

• Act as a technical mentor for backend engineers, guiding them in architectural decisions.

• Lead code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

• Establish best practices for CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps.

🔹 Collaboration & Business Alignment

• Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to align architecture with business goals.

• Translate business requirements into scalable backend solutions.

• Contribute to technical roadmaps, decision-making, and strategic planning.

🎓 Qualifications

✅ Must-Have Skills

✔️ 5+ years of experience in backend software architecture and development.

✔️ Expertise in modern backend languages (Go, Node.js, Python, or Java).

✔️ Deep understanding of microservices, event-driven architecture, and API design.

✔️ Strong experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, or MongoDB).

✔️ Experience with cloud-native development (AWS, Kubernetes, serverless architectures).

✔️ Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).

✔️ Strong expertise in scalability, performance tuning, and fault-tolerant system design.

✅ Nice-to-Have Skills

➕ Experience with GraphQL, gRPC, or event-driven patterns (Kafka, SQS, SNS).

➕ Background in distributed systems and high-availability architectures.

➕ Familiarity with Observability and Monitoring (Datadog, OpenTelemetry, ELK Stack).

➕ Experience working with headless e-commerce architectures.
