About the Role

Vidyard is looking for a Senior Software Developer to be a key player in our Developer Platform team. In this role, you'll be working closely with an awesome team of developers and a product manager, all under the guidance of an Engineering Manager. Your goal? To use your skills to simplify and enhance the day-to-day experience of our developers. This role is available to candidates currently located and eligible to work within Canada.

About the Team

Our Developer Platform team is where innovation meets expertise in two dynamic pillars:

Infrastructure Pillar: This area is dedicated to crafting the foundational infrastructure for microservices that propel our business forward. They are at the forefront of defining and realizing a vision for best-in-class scalability and availability. Ensuring our services thrive in Kubernetes clusters, with a keen focus on observability (Metrics, Logging, Distributed Tracing).

Developer Experience Pillar: Focuses in empowering and unblocking product teams with state-of-the-art developer tooling. Think cloud development environments, cutting-edge CI/CD tooling (build, test, deploy), crafting golden paths, streamlining onboarding processes, and leading the way in incident management. It's all about creating a smooth, efficient developer journey.

By ensuring our infrastructure is robust and our developers are well-supported, our Developer Platform team plays a crucial role in enabling our business to thrive and innovate.

What You’ll Work On

  • Enhancing the technical expertise of fellow engineers on the team and providing insightful, thorough code reviews.

  • Identify opportunities to Introduce new workflows or tooling to enhance the developer experience.

  • In partnership with the team, you will be responsible for the observability solution, implementing best practices for Logging, Metrics, and Tracing.

  • Creating and running enablement sessions to empower developers. Improve and maintain comprehensive documentation to facilitate easier onboarding and efficient processes.

  • Participating in a rotation program to support developers with questions and issues related to internal tools, ensuring smooth operations.

What You’ll Bring to this Role and Your New Team

  • Developer Experience Advocate: You're all about crafting tools that resonate with engineers. Your focus? Simplicity, supportability, ease-of-use. Plus, you're a pro at gathering feedback and enhancing the developer experience.

  • Decisive in Ambiguity: You're comfortable making decisions in uncertain situations, knowing that action often leads to answers.

  • Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with product teams to build a robust infrastructure that aligns with business needs and developer requirements. You excel in making things clear, understanding risks, and discussing trade-offs.

  • Quality Leader: You're driven to uplift our standards in quality, reliability, and performance.

  • Lean & Experimental: You have a metrics-driven approach and love to experiment.

  • Mentor & Guide: Sharing knowledge and mentoring team members is second nature to you.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and address pain points in the developer workflow, implementing effective solutions.

  • Feedback-Driven Approach: Eagerness to learn from developer feedback through surveys and interviews, and apply these insights to drive improvements.
