Senior Manager of Finance Data

HubSpot is looking for a Senior Manager of Finance Data.  In this role, you will be responsible for expanding the scale and scope of how we use data and analytics to drive business impact and increase efficiency within our Finance teams, while broadening the data maturity of our Finance org as a whole.  As a technical data leader, you’ll also partner closely with peers from other operational teams and the technical teams that support our business intelligence infrastructure to make key decisions around HubSpot’s data strategy and infrastructure as we continue to grow and scale.

The Finance data org currently is made up of two data teams, the Finance Automation and Science Team (“FAST”), and the Financial Planning & Analysis Data Analytics team (“FP&A Data”). FAST is responsible for providing all of Finance with the data infrastructure and reporting expertise to support business analysis and enable data driven insights, and also drives process improvement and automation initiatives.The FP&A Data Team acts as a force multiplier by managing data assets, establishing analytics processes, and facilitating consistent operational excellence for the FP&A team in a rapidly expanding remote-first global setting. 

Initially, you will manage the team of analytics engineers and data analysts.  Additionally, you will work with Finance leadership to develop a cohesive operating model for our two data teams that supports a broader data strategy and vision, partnering with Finance leaders to help drive that future vision where we consolidate the two teams under your leadership.   

In this role, you’ll get to:

• Work with the Sr. Director of Finance Transformation to shape the vision for and drive a long term Finance Data Strategy, through collaboration with Finance leadership, peer data leaders, and tech partners 

• Lead a team of Data Analysts and Analytics Engineers, supporting their development, aligning them with the most impactful projects, setting the team’s vision, and establishing a clear operating model within Finance data 

• Work with peer data leaders and tech partners throughout HubSpot to support changes to our reporting infrastructure (including data governance, quality, and security) and influence HubSpot’s broader data strategy

• Define teamwide coding standards, documentation requirements and development processes (code reviews, testing requirements, etc) 

• Drive advanced analytics initiatives using machine learning and AI models to uncover valuable insights, automate tasks and enable data-driven decision making across the organization

• Uplevel the data-savviness and technical skillset of our Finance analysts (primarily excel users), who are responsible for analyzing financial performance and internal operating efficiency, supporting strategy across the organization

• Own and champion Finance’s data assets that answer HubSpot’s most critical questions, reinforcing them as Source of Truth across the organization

We are looking for people with experience in the following areas:

• Bachelor’s degree (required) 

• 10+ years of professional experience, with experience supporting the needs of a Finance organization, ideally in the SaaS industry 

• Deep expertise in building and managing complex data platforms, data manipulation, and data visualization using modern data tech stack (Snowflake, DBT, Monte Carlo, Looker, AWS, Atlan (Data Catalog), etc. 

• Experience with other general purpose programming languages (python, etc.) as well as familiarity with low-code automation software (Workato, iPaaS) for purposes of reporting / process automation.

• Experience working hands-on with large-scale data projects in a complex business intelligence environment 

• Experience working with machine learning and AI models including hands-on experience with model development, validation and deployment

• Experience managing and developing a team of data analysts / analytics engineers

• The ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical parts of the business

• Exceptional ability to build cross-functional business partnerships

• The ability to adapt quickly to the evolving needs of a high-growth SaaS business and create pragmatic and innovative solutions to complex business problems

The cash compensation above includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.
