The Role
The Senior Backend Engineer is crucial for growing and evolving our web and mobile apps, focusing primarily on backend (Python/Django/API) while occasionally jumping into the frontend as needed. This role involves close collaboration with product, design, and engineering teams to ensure we are building robust backend infrastructure with our users in mind. Key responsibilities include: designing backend APIs and database modeling, system architecture, improving backend practices across engineering, creating documentation, and mentoring your peers. You will typically work with a lot of autonomy, and be expected to 'own' the full implementation of whatever you work on.

Skills
You've been in the trenches as a backend engineer and have a strong grasp of Python and Django. You’re comfortable designing and implementing robust backend architecture.
You enjoy the intricacies of API design and DB modeling, and are comfortable with ambiguity and simplifying complex problems.
While backend development is your primary focus, you’re comfortable stepping into frontend tasks when needed to ensure we can deliver high caliber products to our users.
You consider yourself a 'product-centric' engineer and take pride in building something people love.
Working closely with product, design, and frontend teams excites you. You value their input and know how to integrate it into your work.
You’re ready to jump into our on-call rotation, addressing any bugs or errors that arise with a calm, problem-solving mindset.
Sharing your knowledge and helping your team grow is something you’re passionate about. You believe in the power of good documentation and effective mentoring.
