Job Summary:

The primary role of the Procurement Manager is to guide the team in overall company strategy. The Procurement Manager will monitor, analyze, and manage the supply plan for their assigned team’s iHerb item portfolio, including the use of internal forecast data, historical system/promotional data and other inputs and insights to support the best and most accurate demand plans in collaboration with other stakeholders such as Purchasing, Operations, Global Logistics, and Marketing. Along with these tasks, the Procurement Manager supports projects within the Planning group across the various Supply Chain disciplines and company growth strategies. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and adjust to change quickly.

Job Expectations:

  • Responsible for leading assigned planning teams to achieve inventory goals aligned to financial sales strategy, level load buy plans and associated KPI’s.

  • Responsible for purchasing & managing assigned key suppliers

  • Support the company’s Purchasing and Marketing programs, rebates and other initiatives to ensure adequate inventory is planned and available to support product launch, business initiatives, promotions, and events.

  • Monitor, and manage supplier constraints and delivery plans to achieve desired service levels, minimize stock-outs, working capital expense, and delivery costs.

  • Foster key supplier relationships and provide appropriate insights relative to iherb growth plans, and new hub & fulfillment center information when necessary to be proactive in planning additional product needs.

  • Train, coach, and mentor assigned planning teams to maximize sales, standardize business processes and optimize planning tools and systems towards constant improvement and automation. Maintain a high level of employee engagement by ensuring the team’s basic needs are met.

  • Partner with the system data management team to ensure system integrity of supply chain parameters and settings in support of approved business and working capital objectives.

  • Partner with other Managers in the planning department to ensure a cohesive, productive approach in all planning related functions and aspects across the department.

  • Provide actionable reporting to Sr. Management, KPI updates and metric data related to meeting the company goals, as well as to uncover new opportunities.

  • Lead by example, dig into the details.

  • Develop and deliver well thought out presentations internally (IM&P & cross-departmentally) and externally (supplier base)

  • Propose and drive automation and continuous improvement in department processes

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive functional knowledge of planning, forecasting, purchasing execution and supplier relationship management, along with related supply chain areas.

  • Understanding and proficiency using technology tools that enable demand and supply planning and reporting

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong mathematical / statistical abilities

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.

  • Generates, validates, and prioritizes value propositions for areas of opportunity to improve financial and service metrics across supply chain functional areas.

  • Consistently resolves conflict and persuades others to resolve conflict without requiring elevation.

Equipment Knowledge:

  • Strong computer skills, proficient with Google Office Suite and multiple communication apps

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel

Experience Requirements:

Generally requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in an e-commerce environment. Natural Products experience a plus.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience required. APICS Membership and participation encouraged. Certified CPIM, CFPIM, or CSCP desired.

Judgment/Reasoning Ability: Able to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise, and diplomacy. Ability to use judgment and reasoning skills, and determine when to escalate issues, as required, in a timely manner.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear. The Team Member is frequently required to sit, walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers, bend, stoop and reach with hands and arms. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. The Team Member may occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 25 pounds. Proper lifting techniques required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment:  The noise in the work environment is usually moderate.  Other factors are:

  • Hectic, fast-paced with multi-level distractions

  • Professional, yet casual work environment

  • Office / Warehouse environment

  • Ability to work extended hours as required
