Menlo Security's mission is enabling the world to connect, communicate and collaborate securely without compromise. COVID-19 has made our mission all the more real. We support customers across various enterprises including Fortune 500 companies, 9/10 of the largest global banks and the Department of Defense.

The world has fundamentally changed. We are growing from 400 employees into the next phase of our journey, and we need passionate talent filled with empathy and agility. The right candidate for the job is ethical, hyper-organized, fanatical about seeing things through to completion, service-oriented, and humble enough to take feedback and coaching yet confident enough to provide feedback and coaching.

Menlo is well-funded for growth and our investors are second to none. They include Vista Equity Partners (“Vista”), General Catalyst, JPMC, American Express, HSBC, and Ericsson Ventures.

About the Role

Infrastructure Engineering is responsible for building and operating Menlo Security's Infrastructure Platform. Together, we enable our customers to connect to the Internet without compromise. Our environment provides services globally. We expect failure, build security in by design, create evolvable systems, and enable multi-tenancy across the infrastructure. Automation is an absolute for us. We are committed to getting it done properly, the first time. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you'll join a group of experienced engineers located in the North America region who are part of a globally distributed team responsible for managing the company's core infrastructure services and maintaining our constantly growing platform. The team is responsible for deploying and operating the Menlo Security product and infrastructure. Success in this role requires a broad background with a good understanding of systems and networks, and being comfortable writing automation.

Responsibilities

● Work across various projects and collaborate with Engineering, Product, Compliance,

and Security teams to design, build and maintain our products and services.

● Be an advocate of Site Reliability Engineering principles, partner with Service Owners to

adopt best practices. Consult on capacity management, platform management, and

systems design.

● Identify sources of toil and eliminate them. Improve our operational processes, iterate

over our monitoring and alerting. Contribute to our documentation and knowledge base.

● Take ownership of projects, lead them to completion, managing planning, execution, and

communication.

● Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation as part of a globally distributed team.

Requirements

● Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent

practical experience.

● Experience with Systems Engineering, working with GNU/Linux, TCP/IP networks

(firewalls, load balancers, proxies); troubleshooting communication and potential issues

across multiple layers of the network stack: routing, DNS resolution, HTTP connection

and data transfer, TLS certificates and tunnels.

● Experience developing software and writing automation, working with Configuration

Management, CI automation, and Infrastructure as Code.

● Experience with Public Cloud Service Providers, deploying, scaling, and managing

distributed systems across multiple regions.

● Ability to lead projects and navigate ambiguity to accomplish goals and objectives.

Comfortable being in Special Projects, having to quickly understand new initiatives and

contributing to move it forward.

● Share and promote a Technical Vision. Provide guidance and recommendations on best

practices. Lead initiatives to standardize our workflows, coordinating and communicating

cross-functionally on the necessary changes. Acting as a mentor to up-level and grow

team members.
