THE CHALLENGE
Eventbrite's business continues to grow and scale rapidly, powering millions of events. Event creators and event attendees need new tools and technologies that empower them to have the most meaningful live experiences. As a Principal Engineer you will architect, design and develop systems that help us achieve our mission to become ‘The Indispensable Live Experiences Marketplace’. One aspect of any open marketplace is protecting customers from fraudulent activities and this role will play a key role in doing so by inventing, building and integrating technologies for keeping us one step ahead of fraudsters.
THE TEAM
We're a people-focused Engineering organization: the women and men on our team value working together in small teams to solve big problems, supporting an active culture of mentorship and inclusion, and pushing themselves to learn new things daily.
The Marketplace Risk and Fraud team is a cross-functional team including engineers, product, data/ML/AI scientists, risk analysts and customer operations. We take an agile approach to our work, and we learn from each other as we go. The Britelings on our team value working together to solve big problems, supporting an active culture of mentorship and inclusion, and pushing themselves to learn new things daily. Pair programming, periodic demos, tech talks, and hackathons are at the core of how we’ve built our team and product. We believe in engaging with the community, regularly hosting free events with some of the top technical speakers, and actively contributing to open-source software (check out Britecharts as an example!). Our technology spans domains like web, mobile, API, big data, machine learning, LLMs and AI. We build and leverate state-of-the-art fraud detection and prevention tools to help us protect our users from harm.
THE ROLE
As a Principal Engineer of the Marketplace Risk and Fraud at Eventbrite, your focus is the development of fundamental platform capabilities for managing fraud. You will work closely with our distributed research, analytics, customer support, infrastructure and product teams. You will be spending most of your time architecting, designing, building and integrating software in the risk and fraud domain. At Eventbrite, we put our Britelings first. You will also support the career growth of engineers in your team via active mentoring, coaching and continue to raise the bar within the organization. As a technology leader, you will also provide outside-in perspective as well as represent Eventbrite on external forums.
