Principal - Compensation Program Manager

We are seeking a Principal, Compensation Program Manager to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our compensation programs at scale. This is a high-impact role responsible for building the infrastructure, processes, and frameworks that enable consistent, equitable, and competitive pay decisions across the organization.
You will own critical compensation cycles end-to-end, partner cross-functionally to deliver complex initiatives, and serve as the operational backbone of our Total Rewards function. The ideal candidate combines deep compensation expertise with exceptional program management skills and thrives on building scalable solutions in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
Own the end-to-end design, planning, and execution of annual compensation cycles including merit increases, bonus payouts, and equity refresh programs
Lead the development and maintenance of compensation infrastructure that scale with organizational growth, including job architecture, market competitive cash and equity range structures, and leveling frameworks
Design and implement new compensation programs (e.g., spot bonuses, recognition programs, retention initiatives) aligned with business strategy
Lead cross-functional program workstreams with Finance, Legal, Payroll, and People Operations
Build and maintain scalable compensation processes, playbooks, and documentation that enable the organization to make consistent, equitable compensation decisions
Partner with HRIS and People Technology teams to optimize compensation tools, workflows, and system configurations
Develop and automate reporting, dashboards, and analytics to track program performance and inform decision-making
Create executive-ready communications, training materials, and change management plans for program rollouts
What We're Looking For
10+ years of progressive compensation experience in public companies
Strong understanding of compensation best practices, current compensation trends, and market benchmark data
Proven ability to influence and advise senior leaders and build trusted partnerships across the organization
Exceptional program management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
Advanced analytical skills and proficiency with Workday and Google Sheets
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building from the ground up in a fast-paced environment
Pay & Benefits
The cash compensation below includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are tailored to your skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
