Principal AI/ML Engineer

Ai Layer Labs is a seed stage startup with remote employees, with a subset of leadership based in the greater Seattle area.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled, US-based Senior AI/ML Engineer with a robust understanding of LLMs and Generative AI. This full-time, remote role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in an innovative, fast-paced environment and is passionate about building solutions at the intersection of AI and blockchain. This individual contributor role reports to the Director of Technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop advanced AI/ML algorithms to support decentralized inference systems on 6079’s Proof of Inference protocol (https://6079.ai).

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI/ML models into blockchain architectures, ensuring efficient execution and scalability.

• Lead the optimization of AI systems for improved performance across distributed networks.

• Conduct rigorous testing and validation of AI models to ensure their integrity and reliability in a decentralized environment.

• Stay abreast of latest AI/ML research to continuously improve the protocol and introduce innovative solutions.

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with a proven track record of deploying large-scale AI systems.

• Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and especially experience with Torch.AI.

• In-depth understanding of blockchain technology and its application in AI, including experience with smart contracts and decentralized applications.

• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Demonstrated experience in leading complex projects from conception to production.

• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
