Menlo Security's mission is enabling the world to connect, communicate and collaborate securely without compromise. COVID-19 has made our mission all the more real. We support customers across various enterprises including Fortune 500 companies, 9/10 of the largest global banks and the Department of Defense.

The world has fundamentally changed. We are growing from 400 employees into the next phase of our journey, and we need passionate talent filled with empathy and agility. The right candidate for the job is ethical, hyper-organized, fanatical about seeing things through to completion, service-oriented, and humble enough to take feedback and coaching yet confident enough to provide feedback and coaching.

Menlo is well-funded for growth and our investors are second to none. They include Vista Equity Partners (“Vista”), General Catalyst, JPMC, American Express, HSBC, and Ericsson Ventures.

Location: Remote (Mexico)

Position Type: Full-Time

About the Role

Menlo Security is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our Release Engineering team. This position is a full-time remote role based in Mexico.

Release Engineering plays an integral role in implementing and executing product release processes. The role supports Menlo Security's engineering by managing the source code management system, automating builds and regression testing, building tools and monitoring used in software deployments, and coordinating and pushing new releases to the production infrastructure.

The Release Engineering team ensures that new software is released in a streamlined manner from development to production. As a Release Engineer, you'll use your strong technical ability to drive product releases across many different systems and teams. You'll work hard to ensure that Menlo Security's products are delivered with a repeatable and scalable process.

Responsibilities

  • Tooling & Automation: Support and improve our tools for continuous build and deployment, automated testing, and release management.

  • Release Ownership: Own, manage, and improve our release process with a focus on scale, efficiency, and security standards.

  • Developer Velocity: Build and maintain tooling needed during release pushes to remove friction and enable engineering teams to maintain high velocity.

  • Infrastructure Standards: Ensure infrastructure standards are being followed and offer improvements where possible.

  • Metrics & Monitoring: Use a data-driven approach to measure the health of releases and supporting systems.

  • Collaboration: Work effectively with cross-functional teams to foster relationships and drive projects to completion.

Requirements

  • Education: BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

  • Experience: At least 4 years of experience in software engineering, release engineering, and/or configuration management.

  • Cloud & DevOps: Proficiency with AWS or GCP, and hands-on experience with Docker, Terraform, and Ansible.

  • Programming: Proficiency with one or more scripting languages, including Python.

  • CI/CD: Deep understanding and experience with Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration systems.

  • System Design: Demonstrable experience in designing, maintaining, and documenting scalable and resilient systems with a strong security posture.

  • Soft Skills: Clear English communication skills; able to tailor a message to influence organizational change and work with autonomy.

  • Mindset: A DevOps and 'on-call' mindset—embracing the 'build it, own it, run it' philosophy.

Cultural Fit

  • Able to work under own initiative and with a high degree of autonomy.

  • A strong commitment to quality work that the team can be proud of.

  • Welcomes and offers meaningful feedback.

  • Understands when and how to seek help and assistance.
