Payroll Business Systems Co-op (Fall 2026)
Role Summary
Our mission at HubSpot is to help millions of organizations grow better. As a Payroll Transformation Co-op, you’ll support important projects that improve how we pay and support HubSpotters around the world. You’ll learn how payroll systems work, help test new tools, and contribute to process improvements that make our operations faster and more accurate. This role is a great opportunity for students who are excited about technology, data, and creating better employee experiences.
What You’ll Do
Support key payroll transformation projects and help keep work on track as we shift from contractor support to internal resources.
Help build and maintain AI-powered dashboards, review data to find opportunities for automation, and assist with adding machine-learning tools to payroll systems.
Test AI features, summarize what’s working, and help document simple step-by-step guides for future use.
Work with our development team to support the Penny payroll chatbot, including creating training materials, updating FAQs, and monitoring how the chatbot performs after launch.
Gather feedback from users, track common questions, and help troubleshoot basic issues to improve the chatbot over time.
Assist with the Mobility Tax Project by mapping data, documenting processes, and testing new tax workflows for different locations and countries.
Help ensure tax information is accurate across systems, especially during busy times like year-end.
Support additional transformation work, such as equity data sourcing and new mobility business travel tools.
Help test new systems and keep project documentation organized so teams are ready for major launches throughout 2026.
Collaborate with Payroll, Finance, and People Operations teams to keep data consistent and processes running smoothly.
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
Current enrollment in a degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business, HR, Data Analytics, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
Able to commit to a full-time, 40-hour/week co-op from June/July to December 2026
Strong attention to detail and an interest in working with data.
Curiosity to learn how payroll, finance systems, and technology work together.
Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks. Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities may shift.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience using Excel or Google Sheets (formulas, sorting, basic analysis).
Exposure to payroll, HR operations, or finance projects through coursework, part-time roles, or internships.
Familiarity with Workday or other HR/payroll systems.
Interest in AI tools, automation, or process improvement.

The cash compensation below includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are tailored to your skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
