JOB SUMMARY
Code.org org is seeking a K-5 Curriculum Product Manager to lead the work of our K-5 Curriculum team. In this role you will identify, define and ship K-5 curriculum products for computer science teachers, leading and managing a team of content developers and collaborating cross-functionally. Code.org’s K-5 curriculum products, including CS Fundamentals and CS Connections, serve millions of students across the globe each year. The product manager will build on the curriculum’s best-in-class status while spearheading the development of new offerings addressing teacher demand and contemporary topics such as AI. The ideal candidate will be a strong product manager, ideally with experience in the K-5 CS Ed Tech space, and have deep experience designing effective and engaging learning experiences for K-5 students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role you will:
Manage the team of Code.org K-5 curriculum content developers, mentoring them and supporting their growth. Create an inclusive, welcoming, and productive team culture and work environment.
With the support of the Director of Teaching and Learning, develop the strategy for Code.org’s K-5 curriculum products. Define compelling, right-sized curriculum products to achieve that strategy and work towards organizational goals.
Lead the team of curriculum content developers in building and launching products in partnership with design, engineering, marketing, data and others. Manage projects, creating roadmaps and milestones and allocating resources. Standardize workflows, development processes, and pedagogical approaches.
Set goals and metrics, develop evaluation plans, collect, analyze, and act on data from a variety of sources (pilots, surveys, focus groups, observations). Quantitatively and qualitatively monitor product adoption, growth, usage, retention, and satisfaction and use this data to inform product strategy, features, and improvement.
Review and provide feedback on curriculum products in development and manage an external review process using subject matter experts and teacher reviewers.
Develop effective partnerships and working relationships within and outside of the organization. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, to leadership, and with development teams.
Maintain a deep understanding of what K-5 students need to be engaged with and learn from computer science curriculum. Understand what districts, schools, and partners need from K-5 curriculum to implement and promote it.
Actively represent Code.org values. Contribute to Product team and Code.org practices, rituals, and culture.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
We seek candidates who have:
4+ years of experience designing and developing K-5 learning products (ideally CS-focused), including for use at scale. Ideal candidates will have experience as a product manager in the K-5 Ed Tech/curriculum provider space as well as curriculum development experience
2+ years of experience as a people manager, or equivalent experience acting as a regular mentor to members of a team or managing contractors
Deep knowledge of CS concepts relevant to, at a minimum, the K-8 grade bands of the CSTA standards. Expert in one or more programming languages (block-based or text-based); some fluency with at least one text-based programming language
Direct experience teaching computer science preferred
Deep and up-to-date understanding of curriculum development principles, ideally with an understanding of how to design effective K-5 learning experiences in online environments
Experience using product, market and customer data to make product decisions
Strong project manager with experience leading, managing, and prioritizing multiple complex projects with multiple components and timelines, ideally with experience using project management tools
Understanding of and dedication to culturally responsive teaching and best practices to support equitable classroom environments
Strong communication and collaboration skills
The ability to thrive and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment
Experience building and maintaining cross-functional and cross-org relationships
Demonstrated growth mindset and ability to drive clarity through ambiguity
Passion for CS education and the Code.org mission
In addition, candidates must:
Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Pass a pre-employment background check
Be willing to travel a minimum of two times per year for team events
