Description

The US Retail Markets (USRM) Service Data Science team is growing and looking for a hands-on and empowering manager to lead and nurture a data science team of 4-6 data scientists, driving innovative modeling and AI solutions in the USRM Service operations. A successful candidate should have in-depth technical experience across the entire data science life cycle, proven track record to lead and develop talent, strong communication and collaboration to engage with business and technical stakeholders, and drive to create an engaging team culture.

**This position may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location.** 

Key Objectives & Responsibilities:

  • Lead transformative data science initiatives that support USRM Service priorities (e.g., customer retention, profitable growth, call center productivity, process automation).

  • Lead a team of data scientists and analysts in developing, deploying, monitoring, and refining AI and data science models (GBM, LLM).

  • Develop your team’s technical, business, and soft skills by setting clear goals, inspiring high performance, and supporting professional growth and development.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business challenges, strategize and execute data-driven solutions, and communicate progress and impact.

  • Ensure that our team’s ML Ops capabilities continue to advance and adapt to new technologies and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Extensive technical experience across the data science lifecycle, from deciding what problems to solve, through training and deploying models (batch and real-time inference), to evaluating and continually monitoring in-market performance.

  • Prior experience leading and developing high-performing teams.

  • Strong proficiency in Python (and ideally SQL); able to review and guide production-quality code and designs.

  • Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with stakeholders to identify key business problems and implement impactful data-driven solutions.

  • Deep knowledge of predictive analytic techniques and statistical diagnostics of models.

  • Expert knowledge of predictive toolset, to include highly technical tools.

  • Proven ability to lead and drive projects and assignments to completion through others, to include prior experience effectively managing talent.

  • Demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely, verbally, visually (presentations and exhibits), and in writing, consistent with the audiences and stakeholders with which s/he interacts.

  • Ability to establish and build relationships within and outside the aligned functional area or SBU. Ability to give effective training and presentations to management and other groups.

  • Presents to senior or functional department leaders or executives.

  • Broad knowledge of business drivers and market context.

  • Has a value driven perspective with regard to understanding of work context and impact.

  • Competencies typically acquired through an advanced degree (in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or other relevant field of study) and 5 to 7 years of relevant experience or may be acquired through a Bachelor`s degree (scientific field of study) with 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Insurance or financial services industry experience preferred.

Additional Skills and Experiences (Nice to Have):

  • Knowledge and experience with customer service or call center operations.

  • Strong technical proficiency in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative AI.
