Data Scientist

Douro Labs is building Pyth Network, a decentralized blockchain oracle delivering high-frequency, low-latency market data to DeFi applications. The mission is to create an open market data ecosystem by incentivizing owners to contribute their data directly. The network currently counts many top trading firms and market makers as contributors. We seek talented data scientists to help us understand the real-world performance and growth of the protocol. Develop data collection pipelines that scrape blockchain transactions and other resources, then store and index them for analysis. Create automated analysis tools and dashboards to understand protocol metrics. Dig deep into the data and produce insights to guide protocol development.

About Our Team and Your Role:

• We're a balanced team; half are tech-talented people, while the other half excel in forging partnerships with data providers, developers, and the DeFi community - Communication is critical in our network-driven approach.

• Work remotely: Our team spans the globe from the US and South America to Europe and Asia, with an optional office in Porto, Portugal. Remote work is our norm.

• English proficiency is essential as it's our team's and external developer's communication medium.

• Thrive in a startup environment within the dynamic DeFi space. We value adaptable problem solvers eager to address evolving market needs.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop data collection pipelines to gather critical protocol metrics and store them for analysis.

• Analyze protocol metrics to identify trends, insights, and valuable information.

• Communicate your results to business development, engineering, and the broader Pyth Network community through dashboards, written reports, blog posts, and presentations.

• Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to drive product decision-making using data.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• At least 4 years experience in a data science or analytics role, either at a financial firm working with market data or a software company analyzing business datasets

• Deep familiarity with SQL and Python/Jupyter for data analysis and visualization

• Excellent written communication skills

• Familiarity with Python scripting to develop data collection pipelines

• Detail-oriented mindset and critical thinking skills

• A history of working with financial data or blockchain data is a plus.
