Position Overview

SpryPoint builds fantastic web and mobile applications using cutting-edge technologies. As a Data Insights Team Lead at SpryPoint, you will be leading a team of data developers, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data reporting solutions, leveraging tools such as Metabase. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and availability for reporting and analytics purposes. This role is pivotal in driving data-driven decision-making and optimizing our clients' operations.

You'll provide leadership, technical guidance, and mentorship to your team members. Your leadership will foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, empowering your team to deliver exceptional results.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines to support reporting and analytics requirements.

  • Implement and manage reporting solutions using tools like Metabase, ensuring user-friendly dashboards and visualizations.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define KPIs, and deliver actionable insights through reports.

  • Perform data cleansing, transformation, and aggregation to prepare datasets for reporting purposes.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and reporting processes to ensure reliability and performance.

  • Provide clear direction, guidance, and mentorship to a team of data developers

  • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and professional growth within the team.

  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations, offering constructive feedback and supporting career growth.

  • Work closely with team members to support data-driven decision-making initiatives.

  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering, reporting, and analytics.

  • Plan, prioritize, and allocate tasks to team members, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely project delivery.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team, assisting with architecture decisions, code reviews, and problem-solving.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and encourage their adoption within the team.

  • Ensure the team follows coding standards, best practices, and quality guidelines.

  • Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain high code quality, identify potential issues, and promote continuous improvement.

  • Facilitate effective communication within the team and across other teams or departments.

  • Identify skill gaps within the team and provide training, guidance, and opportunities for skill development.

  • Promote a culture of learning and growth, encouraging team members to enhance their technical and soft skills.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. 

  • Advanced degrees such as a Master's or PhD are advantageous but not required.

  • Relevant certifications in data management, database administration, or data analytics are a plus.

  • Hands-on experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including database design, query optimization.

  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.

  • Experience with data visualization tools like Metabase, Tableau, or Power BI.

  • Strong understanding of database design, data modeling, and ETL processes.

  • Experience with Python programming language is preferred, and some understanding of API development is considered a bonus

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and data warehousing solutions.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a focus on scalability, performance, and security.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced Agile environment.

If the assessment goes well, you'll move on to the technical interview. This is a great opportunity to show off your technical skills. We value collaboration, so we'll discuss the assessment together. We’re interested not just in your final solution, but also in your thought process and how you got there.


👥 Stage 4: 45-minute Final Interview with Jason, Director of Software Engineering
