Wealthsimple is on a mission to help everyone achieve financial freedom by reimagining what it means to manage your money. Using smart technology, we take financial services that are often confusing, opaque and expensive and make them transparent and low-cost for everyone. Weโ€™re the largest fintech company in Canada, with over 4 million users who trust us with more than $50 billion in assets.

Our teams ship often and make an impact with groundbreaking ideas. We're looking for talented people who keep it simple and value collaboration and humility as we continue to create inclusive and high-performing teams where people can be inspired to do their best work.

The Contracts Manager will be empowered to support and continuously improve Wealthsimple's contract management process as part of Wealthsimple's Reg Team. You will partner with stakeholders in Product, Marketing, Engineering, Procurement and Legal to manage legal risk and enable business and product objectives. Your job will be to help Wealthsimple make smarter decisions and evolve the contract management process to ensure it's meeting the needs of the organization as we continue to grow.

  • Negotiate, draft and manage vendor and supplier agreements that enable the development and execution of our product roadmap and growth initiatives.

  • Produce contractual documentation and assist with assessing contractual effectiveness across the organization.

  • Support the Legal team in initiatives to improve the teamโ€™s processes and service delivery models by developing self-help tools, templates and checklists, policies, procedures and training.

  • Work with business partners to oversee and  manage  the complete lifecycle of contracts at Wealthsimple.

  • Act as point person for participants in the contracting process, coordinating as needed.

  • Ensure that all contract terms accurately express the business understanding agreed upon by the parties and that appropriate approvals or authorizations are secured.

  • Maintain a contracts management system to efficiently track and manage contract approvals, renewals and obligations.

What you bring:

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated success in a contract management role within the legal or procurement team at an established and fast moving business

  • Post-secondary education in a paralegal, business or related legal program (university or college degree); advanced degree or certification (including a law degree or CIPP/C), is a plus

  • Experience drafting and negotiating vendor agreements, particularly with technology vendors, including master services agreements, statements of work, service level agreements, SaaS agreements, software and data licensing, consulting agreements and RFPs

  • Skills to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences

  • Project management and organizational skills that can be used to balance competing priorities

  • Experience or interest in privacy law.
