Backend Software Engineer, Channels Foundation

The Channels team at Reddit helps us achieve our mission of bringing community and belonging to everyone in the world by delivering users engaging content at the right time. We deliver hundreds and millions of push notifications and emails to Reddit users every day. With Reddit’s growth trajectory, we are solving both product and engineering problems for the next magnitude of scale . We are hiring a backend engineer to focus on bringing the goodness of Reddit to more people.

As a backend engineer, you’ll design, build and tune products within our notifications system, getting to experience reach and impact at a high scale. Your foundational work on our notifications platform will also serve other Reddit engineers, You’ll have an opportunity to work across the stack and with cross-functional teams such as Product, Machine Learning and Data Science. Qualifications:

• 3+ years software engineering experience.

  • We are open to experience in either product engineering, platform or infrastructure teams

    • We want to see someone who wants to apply those skills towards the unique opportunity of both building a platform for a line of products and building notification products

  • We are language agnostic when hiring but use golang and python across the stack.

  • Proficiency in SQL and backend systems is required

• A past track record of Quality, for example:

  • Familiarity with unit testing and other automated testing. 

  • Ability to code with resiliency and fault tolerance in mind

  • Has operational experience supporting live ops for websites
