About the role

Coalition is looking for an actuary to help build out a world-class pricing team. This role comes with a significant amount of ownership and demands a high level of technical skill paired with strong communication. You will be responsible for many key actuarial pricing functions across the cyber and executive risk lines; including loss model development, rate development, rate indications and trend analyses. You will also be responsible for pricing new insurance products. Additional focus areas include assisting with one-off analyses and cross-team collaboration to develop new ways to model and understand risk, with an ongoing goal to improve efficiency in our processes.

The cyber market has unique challenges from a modeling and pricing perspective. We’re looking for someone who likes to take challenges head on, that is curious and able to think outside of the box to build models from the ground up using advanced statistical techniques while relying on a strong insurance foundation to guide decisions. You should enjoy working with complex data, data scientists & actuaries, understanding business context, and having your contributions directly impact our company’s core profit and loss metrics.

    • Development of risk controls, including price monitoring and early warning indicators

    • Development of tools to assess pricing rates & business performance, including UI dashboards

    • Perform, document and present ad hoc quantitative analysis

    • Seek innovative opportunities to enhance our pricing accuracy through new data, features or modeling techniques

  • Straddle the worlds of insurance, data science, engineering and security experts to shape the most suitable data-driven solutions

  • Act as an ambassador to improve price transparency through strong collaboration with all relevant partners

Skills and Qualifications

  • Has completed 5+ Actuarial Exams

  • Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science or any other related field

  • Ability to take ambiguous problems and solve them in a structured data-driven way

  • Intellectual curiosity and an interest in our mission of solving cyber risk

  • Strong understanding of actuarial pricing concepts

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment, be creative and think outside the bo

Bonus Points

  • Cyber and/or executive liability experience

  • Experience in predictive modeling
