AI-First Social Media Analyst
Apply for this position → Go ad-free with Premium🇿🇦 Up to ZAR 350,000 per year, on a full time, permanent employment contract 🌎 Fully remote working from anywhere in South Africa! 🏖️ 33 Days Paid Leave and Benefits ✨ Working with globally recognisable brands in US Entertainment 💻 Work with modern hardware, social publishing tools, productivity systems, and AI-enabled workflows. Who We Are At Storm Ideas, we supercharge the digital presence of some of the biggest names in US TV and entertainment. Since 2008, our international team has delivered bold, forward-thinking solutions for globally recognised clients. Whether we're building innovative products, producing high-impact social content, or designing smarter ways for our partners to work — we're right at the cutting edge of creativity, technology, and automation. This Is an AI-First Role We're not looking for someone who occasionally asks ChatGPT to tidy up a sentence. We're looking for an analyst who treats AI as the default way to work. Social analytics is full of repetitive, high-volume work: pulling data, normalising it, spotting patterns, writing it up, formatting it, doing it again next month. That work is now largely automatable — and the analysts who automate it spend their time on the part that actually matters, which is judgement, interpretation and telling clients something they didn't already know. You'll be expected to build that automation yourself, not wait for someone to build it for you. Every recurring task you touch should get faster the second time you do it. To be direct about the trade: AI does the grunt work, you own the accuracy. We hold AI-assisted output to a higher standard than manual output, not a lower one — because a hallucinated number in a client report is worse than a slow one. What You’ll Make Happen Collaborating with fellow analysts and other internal teams, you'll take part in:
Contributing to a variety of client-facing insights reports
Gathering and analysing performance data from social media networks, in accordance with our processes
Developing a mastery of a variety of analytics tools, including Sprinklr, Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite and YouTube Studio
Building AI-assisted workflows that take reporting tasks from hours to minutes — data cleaning, first-pass analysis, chart generation, draft narratives, QA checks
Using LLMs (Claude, ChatGPT and similar) as an analytical partner — interrogating datasets, pressure-testing your own conclusions, generating and discarding hypotheses fast
Rigorously verifying AI output before it reaches a client — checking numbers against source, catching confident-but-wrong claims, knowing where these tools are unreliable
Creating visually appealing and consistently designed reports and presentations
Generating content and strategy recommendations from data analysis of our clients' social accounts
Compiling those recommendations into a written format to be shared with external stakeholders
Turning what you build into something the whole team can use — documenting prompts, workflows and automations so they become team assets rather than personal shortcuts
Continuously looking for areas of improvement and working with the team to improve the overall quality of our reports and provide more value to our clients
Updating and maintaining documentation on our reporting processes
Following client and competitor accounts on social media to better understand effective social media strategy
Your Expertise
Excellent numeracy skills and ability to analyse data quantitatively and qualitatively
Genuine hands-on experience using AI tools in real work — not just awareness of them. Tell us what you've built, automated or sped up, and what didn't work
Healthy scepticism — you can spot when a model is confidently wrong, and you check before you send
Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
Excellent written and communication skills
Unparalleled attention to detail
Ability to prioritise workload and complete tasks to deadlines
Social media experience is a plus, but not a necessity if you're interested in learning about the industry
Nice to Haves
Experience in creating and executing on social media performance reports
Experience with 3rd party social analytics tools, such as Sprout Social, Sprinklr, Social Insider
Experience with the social networks' native analytics tools, such as Facebook Creator Studio, YouTube Studio, TikTok Analytics
Light scripting ability (Python, SQL, Apps Script) — or the confidence to get there with AI assistance
Experience with automation tooling (Zapier, Make, n8n) or agentic AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, custom GPTs)
A side project, script or workflow you built because something annoyed you
