Popular Democracy

Popular Democracy is a national network of 47 grassroots organizations across 32 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. The network works with Black, brown, and low-income communities to build grassroots power, develop community leaders, and advance civic engagement and policy change.

The organization focuses on cultivating future leaders through recruitment, training, and development; strengthening its network of grassroots organizations; using culture and creative collaboration to build collective power; advancing research and knowledge for strategic impact; and developing narratives that amplify community voices and encourage civic participation.

Popular Democracy also supports the long-term strength and sustainability of its network through fundraising, fiscal management, budgeting, compliance, administration, and continuous organizational improvement. Its stated vision is to help build a representative, multiracial government and society in which communities can thrive.
