Insomniac Design is a global digital agency headquartered in Washington D.C., with offices in London, Bucharest and Chisinau.  We’re an agile, determined and innovative team organized by functional areas of expertise — Creative, Technology, Strategy, and Management. We specialize in human-centered design with deep focus on design thinking and digital transformation. 

As a UX Strategist at Insomniac Design, you’ll partner with global clients and internal team members to develop innovative digital products. This position offers a dynamic blend of strategy, research, and creativity. You’ll work in tandem with Insomniac’s creative and engineering teams to define and map products ranging from individual products to enterprise-wide digital transformation strategies.

General Responsibilities:

  • Expected to collaborate and contribute effectively within a team environment.

  • Able to solve complex problems and understands interrelated processes within the job role scope.

  • Able to work towards achieving business goals without a predefined solution, showcasing adaptability and critical thinking skills.

  • Implements product, process, automation and/or streamlines work using industry best practices or incremental ideas to improve experience, efficiency, or quality.

  • Demonstrates the ability to create team-level processes and optimize existing processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with clients to define user experience business objectives and identify improvements for existing products as well as future opportunities.

  • Leads human-centered research and design best practices to build UX artifacts such as audience and market insights, user personas, journey maps, user flows, and information architectures.

  • Translates research findings into clear, actionable recommendations and UX enhancements.

  • Develops and maintains product documentation such as business and functional requirements, user stories, and product roadmaps.

  • Facilitates workshops with teammates, clients, stakeholders, and general public users to uncover truths, identify priorities and pain points, and generate consensus.

  • Expertly conveys an understanding of the latest trends in technology and devices, accessibility, usability, inclusivity and equity, and user experience best practices to colleagues and client stakeholders.

  • Spearheads user and usability testing, concept validation testing, and other various feedback-gathering techniques to inform our work and refine product strategy.

  • Collaborates closely and effectively with teammates from strategy, design, and engineering, using excellent communication skills.

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human-computer interaction, information systems, psychology, or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in user experience design, product design, user research, or product management.

  • 2+ years of experience in a client-facing, agency environment.

  • Knowledge of the product development lifecycle and familiarity with design and development best practices.

  • Experience utilizing content management systems such as Drupal or Wordpress.

  • Experience using design research methods and developing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.

  • Demonstrated experience producing strategic deliverables such as: insights presentations, product and feature roadmaps, user personas and journey maps, and information architectures.

  • Proficiency in product documentation creation and management.

  • Experience using productivity tools such as Figma, Dovetail, Survey Monkey, Optimal Workshop, Google Analytics, and Atlassian Suite.

  • Portfolio of prior user research or strategy experience, per request.

$90,000 - $120,000 a year
