UX Researcher - AI
About the Role
You'll be joining GitLab's UX Research team, supporting our core AI domain - working on features like Duo Agent Platform, GitLab Knowledge Graph, and Agent Marketplace to name a few.
We're looking for someone who can balance speed with rigor - moving quickly when needed while ensuring research quality. You'll lead tactical studies (helping teams make fast decisions) and contribute to strategic research (shaping our AI product direction). This role requires comfort with ambiguity and the ability to adapt your approach based on team needs and timelines.
You'll work alongside Senior and Staff UX Researchers who will support your growth, while building strong collaborative relationships with your Product Design and Product Management counterparts.

What you’ll bring
Empathetic, curious and open-minded.
Deep experience running mixed-methods research.
Experience working directly with stakeholders and be comfortable guiding them to the most appropriate research approach (in particular if they have a different opinion).
Experience working in a highly iterative, fast paced environment, and have the ability to pivot with sudden changes in direction.
Self-motivated and self-managing, with strong organizational skills.
Ability to ramp up to a highly technical domain quickly.

Able to conduct research in a fully remote setting.
Experience working on enterprise and/or developer tooling products is a plus.
Experience working on AI products, particularly for enterprise dev tooling, is a plus.
What you’ll do
Be the expert on the users within your allocated area of coverage: know how they use the GitLab, their pain points, their workflows, etc.
Collaborate with GitLab designers, product managers and engineers on a wide array of research projects.
Conduct all stages of UX research: identifying, planning, driving, conducting, analyzing, and reporting out insights.
Use a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods to apply to research questions.
Communicate out statuses and updates of project work to stakeholders.
The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of the United States only. This range is intended to reflect the role's base salary rate in locations throughout the US. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, alignment with market data, and geographic location. The base salary range does not include any bonuses, equity, or benefits. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.
