Position Summary:

As the hands-on Manager of User Experience overseeing the Catalog experience, you will be responsible for leading a small team of UX designers, defining the end to end shopping funnel, and ensuring the seamless interaction of our customers with our digital products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Development, Marketing, and Customer Support to deliver user-centric solutions that drive engagement, conversion, and customer satisfaction.

 

Location: This role is US-based remote, with a strong preference for someone located in the Pacific time zone. Occasional travel to our Southern California office might be required.

 

Job Expectations: 

 

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of UX designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

  • Be a player-coach, who can also do hands-on design when needed

  • Prioritize and execute the overall UX strategy for our e-commerce platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.

  • When needed, assist with research, usability testing, and user journey mapping to gain insights and identify opportunities for improving the user experience.

  • Translate user insights and business requirements into user-centered design solutions, considering user interface design, interaction design, and visual design principles.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Developers to ensure the successful implementation of design solutions while maintaining a balance between user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives.

  • Collaborate with the design system team, help define guidelines, and standards to ensure a consistent and cohesive user experience across all platforms and touchpoints.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in UX/UI design and e-commerce to drive continuous improvement.

  • Advocate for user-centered design principles throughout the organization, fostering a user-centric mindset and creating a culture of design excellence.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Architecture, or a related field; or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience with 1-3 years in leading UX/UI design teams, ideally within the e-commerce or digital product space.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing successful mobile UX/UI projects, highlighting your ability to solve complex design challenges and create user-friendly solutions.

  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, or similar tools.

  • In-depth knowledge of user-centered design processes, methodologies, and best practices.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including the ability to inspire, mentor, and guide a diverse team of designers.

  • Familiarity with front-end development principles and collaboration with development teams.

  • A strategic mindset, with the ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.

 

  Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in a global or multicultural e-commerce environment.

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines (WCAG) for creating inclusive digital experiences.

  • Experience with data-driven design and A/B testing methodologies.
