About the Role:  

Based in the Mid Atlantic territory or a major hub in the Eastern/Central US, the U.S. Space Force Account Executive- Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Tracking will manage Planet’s relationship with the U.S. Space Force, Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), and other potential stakeholders in the execution of Planet’s support to SRT/GMS account opportunities. Additionally, the Account Executive will find new customers for Planet’s broad area monitoring and search product lines as we continue to grow sales according to the business plan. The ideal candidate is a driven, independent thinker, who can also be creative as we expand into new market segments. This person will have a strong business acumen and an aptitude to learn new things.

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Maintain close coordination with any subcontractors within any SRT / USSF related contracts.

  • Identify, qualify, negotiate, and close opportunities related to SRT / USSF, as well as applications of generative artificial intelligence (AI) analytics to provide further value to the U.S. Space Force customer.

  • Target expansion opportunities for SRT / USSF with the U.S. Government (DoD) accounts and partners companies.

  • Manage Planet’s relationship with the U.S. Space Force and DIU to provide broad area monitoring and search analytics, to include coordination with the Professional Services team and the Customer Success team.

  • Identify, qualify, negotiate, and close large-scale complex deals and drive sales revenue targets.

  • 'Utilize your technical understanding of geo-spatial imagery products and familiarity with the technical field to expand the customer segments we sell to.'

  • Develop an extensive pipeline of new sales leads, provide product and sales demonstrations to prospective customers, and formulate appropriate business relationships with accounts.

  • Collaborate with Sales Engineers for prospect meetings and presentations, generate proposals and present pricing to executive level buyers.

  • Maintain weekly pipeline reporting and accurately forecast quarterly and annual business.

What You Bring:

  • Five (5) to Ten (10) years of relevant technical area experience or more, normally equivalent to military O-3/GS-12 or above

    • 3 Joint, Defense Intelligence Agency, or Intelligence Community experience is desired(preferably with experience in U.S. Space Force or service component space organizations)

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with a major relevant to the duties of the position, along with an advanced degree in associated discipline.

  • Live in the United States and are a U.S. citizen eligible for a U.S. DoD security clearance

  • 5+ years of related experience in Software and/or Data as a Service sales

  • Demonstrated success prospecting, finding and winning business with new customers.

  • Experience selling to Federal customers including understanding the nuances of sales cycles and how to navigate multiple agencies/divisions

  • Ability to forecast accurately and manage a pipeline of opportunities

  • Ability to source, sell, co-sell, and close large deals; carrying quota and closing should be familiar concepts

  • Ability to do deep discovery and build relationships to engage in complex pricing negotiations

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • 'Proven ability managing competing requests and experience working in a start-up or start-up like environment.'

  • Sound decision-making skills

  • Adaptability with a proven ability to express and communicate with a variety of people.

  • Experience building customer relationships with a proven ability to successfully close sales deals.

  • Experience working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with a proven ability to tackle unique challenges presented by its dynamic conditions.

  • Experience with CRM, outreach tools and forecasting solutions

Compensation:

The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is $93,500 - $126,850.  Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (commission, bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location.  The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
