Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

To that end, Stripe’s Treasury-Finance team is building a world class Capital & Financial Risk Management pillar with a goal of being fully automated and supremely lean. CFRM comprises a capital & liquidity risk management team and a financial risk management team. We work closely with other Treasury-Finance teams (Liquidity Management and Capital Markets), Stripe’s Information team (Data Science and Data Engineering), Stripe’s Money Movement & Storage (MMS) product and engineering teams to build great capital and financial risk infrastructure.

What you’ll do

We’re looking for a creative, smart, and driven individual to join our capital and liquidity risk management team and help us develop our robust and industry leading capital planning and capital attribution methodologies to attribute capital to our users, or customers that use Stripe products. The successful candidate will also contribute to other capital management-related projects and initiatives including building out target state capital planning and capital attribution systems, internal capital allocation and legal entity structuring and developing and presenting management and board management information on CFRM and treasury-finance matters.

Candidates should have experience building and deploying capital planning, capital management and capital attribution frameworks and working closely with key stakeholders such as business and product owners, risk, data science and sales teams to accurately estimate financial capital needs and steer the business towards capital efficiency.  The ideal candidate will have strong technical and interpersonal skills combined with the desire to work closely with the broader finance team, Data Science and engineering teams and other cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead in preparing Stripe’s capital plan and supporting materials and documentation

  • Work with Stripe’s engineering and data science teams to design, document and build Stripe’s target state architecture for capital planning and capital attribution

  • Coordinate with regional treasury teams to support regional and legal entity specific capital planning processes

  • Advise management on optimal capital structure, capital allocation strategies and related financing options through use of forecasting models and capital consumption analytics

  • Contribute to initiatives to develop capital attribution frameworks for our businesses, products, regions and legal entities

  • Assist in the recruitment and development of the capital management team

  • Be a culture carrier and possess an entrepreneurial mindset to successfully drive capital efficiency initiatives across Stripe

  • Collaborate with Treasury Capital Management stakeholders to identify and understand manual processes currently managed tactically and develop automated solutions using data science techniques to streamline and optimize these processes

  • Maintain Capital Management policies, e.g. Liquidity, Funding and Equity Policy

  • Build and maintain tools to monitor sources and uses of capital to ensure appropriate deployment of resources

  • Enhance reporting of Capital and Financial Risk metrics via compelling Treasury Dashboards

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in one or more of: Treasury, long-term planning, capital planning and stress testing

  • A proven ability to build strong collaborative working relationships and lead cross-functional efforts with diverse stakeholders including finance, data science, engineering, risk and product teams

  • An enthusiastic “roll up your sleeves” mentality

  • The ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment

  • The ability to work with and synthesize extremely large data sets.

  • An inclination to solve problems systematically via infrastructure and automation.

  • A builder's mindset with a willingness to question assumptions and conventional wisdom.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred qualifications

  •  Experience with SQL or a willingness to learn is a strong plus
