Proof of Work

The Team

Kraken is looking for a talented Technical Project Manager with excellent communication and analytical skills to help us improve and optimize our Security program. We are seeking someone with a mixture of proactivity, attention to detail, technical acumen, and who can function comfortably in a variety of security disciplines.

In this role you’ll be responsible for the execution and success of various security-related projects. You will primarily work within and across teams in IT and Security to own, drive, and improve the non-technical aspects of project lifecycles. You should be comfortable and experienced in implementing both agile and waterfall approaches in a flexible and context-dependent fashion. In our hyper-growth environment, there is a balance to strike between implementing processes that are lightweight, purposeful, course correcting, and scalable. The ideal candidate will be passionate about simplifying the complex, driving smooth coordination towards clear, shared goals, and have an overall optimistic outlook towards the future.

The Opportunity

Departmental Reporting

  • Be a point of contact for OKR management, tracking and reporting

  • Creating dashboards that identify trends, and provide actionable insights

  • Create and iterate Jira workflows and supporting processes that enable clarity, transparency, and the scalability of everything we do that generates shared context

  • Strong communication skills and content creation for an executive level audience

  • Continuously improve our workflows, communication patterns, methodologies, and anything else that elevates project potential and sparks self-organization

  • Continuously seek ways to drive greater automation and user experience improvements to the reporting workflow, testing and iterating on changes frequently alongside key stakeholders

Project Management

  • Partner with an exceptional team of security leaders and their team members to plan and coordinate the execution of mission critical projects

  • Orchestrate cross-functional projects and teams around strategic outcomes while ensuring alignment of stakeholders around priorities, timeline, status, and risks

  • Synthesize multiple viewpoints and communicate perspectives necessary to drive long term success

  • Organize and facilitate project-focused meetings (planning, kick offs, stand ups, retrospectives)

  • Creatively foresee the path of least resistance through complex dependencies, goals, and constraints, unafraid to utilize novel approaches to drive project milestones and goals

Skills you should HODL

  • Minimum of 6+ years technical program/project management experience delivering end to end  complex cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong working knowledge of project and work stream management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Tableau and EazyBI

  • Background in engineering, security, risk management or compliance

  • Track record in supporting teams with their roadmap planning, establishing delivery plans, collecting and analyzing project data, and ensuring accurate reporting

  • Experience in developing standardized reporting processes, designing and creating portfolio performance dashboards

  • Expert in putting together cross-functional project plans, identifying dependencies and managing critical path milestones to drive successful cross-team outcomes

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in written, with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and capable of reporting to a c-suite audience

  • You will have examples of how you embraced technology and data for evidence-based decision-making

  • Tenacious self-starter who thrives in environments characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity where you get to utilize your resourceful and creative problem solving nature to facilitate alignment, coordination and overall project momentum through completion

  • Superb organizational skills and an analytical view on maximizing team productivity with a focus on value and outcomes rather than getting caught up on rigid processes

  • A reliable and trustworthy team member with a strong understanding of confidential awareness when appropriate

  • Inherently curious about how things work and the ability to self-educate when necessary

  • Passionate and knowledgeable about cryptocurrency, blockchain technology and security

  • Background in a Big 4 and/or a FinTech would be highly desirable

Attributes we look for in successful project managers

  • Deep listening skills, listening to understand

  • Low ego, mindful, empathetic, and insatiably curious

  • Self-starter with a deep sense of ownership and a bias for action

  • Advocate for a culture of continuous improvement

  • Ability to exercise judgment to determine when to creatively reframe and rechannel adversity into fuel for a new way of thinking and acting and when to appropriately escalate

  • Ability to frame the dynamics of projects, teams and goals through a systems thinking / cybernetics lens

  • Macro-to-micro versatility: strategic mindset coupled with a keen attention to detail

  • Well-rounded interpersonal skills, able to get along well with diverse personalities
