The mission of the Engineering TPM team is to drive Figma’s most important cross-company engineering efforts, and we are looking for a Technical Program Manager to partner with our Tech org. The TPM team will take on oversight of the most important efforts that require coordinated technical execution across the Org in order to succeed. For 2024, our areas of focus are AI/ML, Security, Program Execution, and infrastructure. These efforts will involve prioritization, decision making, tracking execution & driving operational excellence in those areas. Process engineering will be a key part of this leadership role. We’re looking for someone that can work in a TPM greenspace environment, and is passionate about people, technology, and program management.

This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.

What you'll do at Figma:

  • Drive complex programs and projects, involving wide varieties of technical and non-technical stakeholders, across product areas at Figma.

  • Run programs that cross engineering team boundaries and involve significant product, business, and coordination complexity.

  • Ensure there is always a source of truth and accountability on scope, schedule, resources, open decisions / risks and quality of the program.

  • Deliver on each program milestone’s deliverables based on success criteria

  • Teams and responsibilities include:

    • Machine Learning: Drive AI feature development, including Gen AI models, collaborating with engineering, data science, and product teams. Manage the end-to-end project lifecycle from concept to deployment, with a focus on seamless AI integration into Figma’s platform. Requires deep expertise in machine learning, model training, and AI infrastructure. Coordinate experiments, optimize model performance, and manage vendor contracts. 

    • Security: Lead the Secure SDLC, managing security requirements, ML security, and vulnerability tracking. Partner with teams for security reviews and post-launch tracking. Oversee security partnerships, SaaS Security, and Data Governance. Drive security education to ensure best practices and compliance.

    • Infrastructure: Ensure the reliability and compliance of Figma’s AWS infrastructure. Lead incident management, EKM, FedRamp compliance, and other special deployment and reliability programs. Coordinate incident responses, root cause analysis, and system optimization. Manage projects from planning to execution, enhancing performance and resilience.

    • Program Execution: Oversee cross-functional execution of key platform initiatives like billing systems and interop features. Manage complex programs, drive collaboration, and ensure high standards in execution to deliver impactful user-focused enhancements, supporting Figma’s growth.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • 4+ years of technical program management experience

  • Expertise in organizing and driving complex initiatives like multi-team product launches and multi-quarter platform migrations

  • Experience operating in ambiguity, shepherding product, process, and/or engineering programs from concept to completion

  • Ability to find the balance between driving in a scrappy manner vs structured program management. Getting results! 

  • The ability to form close, effective stakeholder relationships and manage competing priorities and incentives

  • Experience building and maintaining automated project dashboards (Asana, Mode, Datadog) and integrations

While it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:

  • Strong bias to action, self-motivation and curiosity, with desire to bring people together and deliver high quality results in the constantly evolving growth and excitement of a start-up culture

  • Familiarity with a modern scaled web stack (AWS, Sinatra, React) would be valuable

  • Familiarity with ML and vendor management is a plus
