What does the job entail:

“As a Technical Director, I have overall responsibility for a substantial team of developers working on customer projects using an agile approach. Our one-team concept means that we work hand-in-hand with customers and avoid all of the common customer-vendor relationship problems. I have relished the challenge of working on large-scale international projects that have generated major revenue for our customers and repeat business for us.”

As a Technical Director, you will work on a number of client teams to deliver projects, identify new opportunities and advise as a senior technical leader on the client team. You will work closely with NearForm’s clients to help inform their strategy and to ensure our teams are delivering high-quality solutions aligned to our client’s technology vision.

You will ensure our work with clients is aligned to NearForm’s growth goals, and you will play a pivotal role in identifying new opportunities and winning work, supporting the sales team in developing new business opportunities.

You will be closely involved with stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that software is developed in a way that can be scaled, monitored, supported and maintained. You will be expected to clearly communicate product strategy, plans, objectives and performance measures, tailoring communication as appropriate to ensure that it is relevant to the audience.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, potentially across multiple clients, in the design, development and delivery of high-performance software systems, and ensure that teams are formed with the skills for resolving issues throughout the lifecycle of each client engagement.  You will work with Technical Leads , coaching and supporting them to help steer their teams’ success. You will also have responsibility for hiring and mentoring NearForm engineers.

You will have a growth mindset, and, although this does not have to be a hands-on technical role, you will remain abreast of the latest digital technologies and software development practices.  You will apply this knowledge to help you shape technology architectures and roadmaps.  You will work with other NearForm technical directors to provide technical leadership and direction to peers and colleagues and define, document and distribute best practices and standards.

As a technology leader within NearForm, you will be expected to maintain and grow your professional network. Writing blog posts, speaking at conferences and teaching at workshops is encouraged. You will be expected to contribute to thought leadership, content and events and should have a proven track record of doing so.
