The Opportunity
BPM is seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Director to provide strategic leadership, technical expertise, and client advisory services within our Corporate Tax practice. This role is ideal for a seasoned tax professional who enjoys solving complex tax issues, leading client relationships, mentoring teams, and contributing to the growth and direction of the practice.
As a Director, you will work closely with partners and senior leaders to deliver high‑quality federal and state corporate tax services, support business development efforts, and help shape the future of BPM’s corporate tax offering.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Service & Technical Leadership
Serve as a trusted advisor to middle‑market and emerging growth companies, including complex C‑Corporations and consolidated groups
Lead and review federal, state, and local corporate income tax compliance (Forms 1120, 1120S where applicable, multistate filings)
Research and interpret complex tax issues and clearly communicate conclusions to clients and internal stakeholders
Provide technical leadership on complex tax matters, including:
ASC 740 (income tax provision and review)
Accounting method changes
NOLs, credits, and incentives
M&A transactions, restructurings, and entity planning
Leadership & Team Development
Manage, mentor, and develop Managers, Supervisors, and staff, fostering technical excellence and career growth
Review work products to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to firm standards
Support staffing, workload planning, and performance management efforts
Practice Growth & Collaboration
Partner with tax and advisory leadership to support business development initiatives and expand client relationships
Identify opportunities for additional services and collaborate with other BPM practice groups (Advisory, Assurance, Specialty Tax)
Contribute to thought leadership, internal training, and best‑practice development within the Corporate Tax group
Qualifications: Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
Active CPA license, JD or EA
10+ years of progressive corporate tax experience
Strong technical knowledge of federal and multistate corporate income tax
Proven experience managing client relationships and leading engagements
Experience reviewing ASC 740 provisions preferred
Preferred
Public accounting experience with middle‑market or complex corporate clients
Experience supporting M&A transactions and tax structuring
Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence, coach, and collaborate

The salary range provided is intended for candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area who meet the minimum requirements of the position. Candidates who do not reside in the San Francisco Bay Area, do not meet the minimum requirements, or exceed the requirements are encouraged to apply and a recruiter will provide you with a range specific to your location and qualifications.
