System Architect - QA and Automation
About the Role Are you a visionary QA leader with a passion for building from the ground up? We're a rapidly growing startup disrupting the Storage and Data Orchestration landscape, and we're seeking a QA System Architect to define, implement, and scale our entire quality assurance strategy. This isn't just a leadership role; it's an opportunity to be hands-on in architecting robust QA frameworks while simultaneously building and mentoring a high-impact team. You'll be instrumental in embedding a quality-first mindset across our organization, ensuring our product not only meets but exceeds the highest standards as we accelerate our growth. What You'll Do As our QA System Architect, you'll blend strategic vision with practical execution. Your responsibilities will include: Architecting for Excellence ● Design and implement lean, scalable QA strategies and frameworks optimized for a fast-paced startup environment. ● Enhance test coverage through collection and analysis of customer and field data ● Build and maintain advanced automation frameworks that can be used to develop CI/CD pipelines for accelerated testing and guaranteed continuous deployment reliability. ● Enable QA to keep up with the pace of development and release by working very closely with other engineering architects and help design testing frameworks in parallel with the features themselves. ● Champion a test-driven development (TDD) culture, seamlessly integrating QA best practices including modern fault injection techniques during every stage of the engineering lifecycle. ● Develop innovative tools and processes for efficient test data management and environment provisioning. ● Stay at the forefront of QA innovation, continuously evaluating and adopting emerging tools and techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Leading for Impact ● Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing, lean QA team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence. ● Define critical quality metrics and KPIs to monitor release quality internally and in the f ield. ● Forge strong partnerships with engineering, product, release, and customer-facing teams to proactively address quality needs and prioritize initiatives. ● Instill a pervasive quality-first mindset across the entire organization, driving faster, more reliable product delivery. ● Develop and manage the comprehensive QA roadmap, balancing immediate tactical needs with long-term strategic scalability while aligning QA goals directly with our company's strategic objectives and ● Oversee budget planning and resource allocation for all QA initiatives, ensuring optimal utilization. ● Keep all stakeholders informed wrt progress of different initiatives in the QA team. ● Drive the execution of rigorous testing across all product releases, ensuring consistency, accountability, and release readiness. ● Serve as the primary voice for quality, representing QA in all high-level discussions with stakeholders and clients. Beyond Strategy: Hands-On Collaboration While this role demands strategic leadership, you'll also be a core part of the team, ready to roll up your sleeves. We believe in collaborative problem-solving, so you'll often jump in alongside your fellow QA engineers to: ● Troubleshoot complex issues, diving deep into system logs, code, and test results to pinpoint root causes. ● Collaborate on test case design and execution, ensuring comprehensive coverage and optimal efficiency. ● Mentor and guide junior team members through challenging technical hurdles, sharing your expertise and fostering their growth. ● Contribute directly to automation efforts, writing or reviewing code to enhance our test infrastructure. Who You Are You are an experienced and dynamic leader with a proven track record of building and scaling QA functions from the ground up. Technical Prowess ● Extensive hands-on experience in building QA frameworks and automating tests from scratch in dynamic, fast-paced environments. ● Mastery of automation tools such as PyTest, Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright, coupled with expertise in performance testing tools like MDTest, JMeter, or Gatling. ● Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or JavaScript, specifically for developing robust test scripts and automation solutions. ● Deep understanding of modern CI/CD pipelines and integrating testing seamlessly within DevOps workflows. ● Proficiency with leading test management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr) and bug-tracking System (e.g., JIRA). ● Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and a solid understanding of testing cloud-native applications. Leadership & Experience ● 15+ years of progressive QA experience, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership or management capacity. ● Demonstrated success in scaling QA processes and teams within a startup or hyper-growth environment. ● Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving abilities, thriving in ambiguous and fast-evolving situations. ● Superior communication skills, capable of effectively bridging technical complexities with non-technical stakeholders. ● A genuine passion for fostering a collaborative, quality-driven culture within a small, agile team. ● Experience managing and collaborating with distributed QA and development teams. ● Proven track record of successfully delivering high-quality software products.
