The Difference You Will Make:

This person will partner with our payments engineering teams to deliver solutions to improve the productivity of Airbnb engineers. If you strive to improve productivity, have a strong analytical approach to problems, and love the challenge of building new organizational capabilities, this is the role for you. 

A Typical Day:

  • Develop a portfolio view of Payments programs and ensure leaders have sufficient visibility into execution status, issues, and decisions.

  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of large cross-functional initiatives aimed at increasing the productivity of our technical teams.

  • Apply a data-driven approach to measuring developer productivity and happiness to inform roadmap prioritization, intensely focusing on developer success.

  • Manage effective communication with stakeholders and across teams to ensure alignment and accountability.

  • Focuses on key priorities

  • Partner with developer teams to develop and enforce high quality internal documentation.

  • Acts without being told what to do; brings new ideas to the team

  • Collaborate with leadership to implement best practices and aligning on priorities across Payments

  • Moves quickly and takes a forceful stand without being abrasive

  • Builds atmosphere of trust within the team; inspires team to do their best work and addresses impediments to this quickly and effectively

  • Does not let important details slip through the cracks or derail a project

  • Regularly assess opportunities; champion best practices, drive for process improvements, and find new ways of operating, with a focus on simplification and productivity.

Your Expertise:

  • Tenacity and willing to go the distance to get something done; Exhibits passion and excitement over work; Can-do attitude

  • Able to persuade others to pursue a particular course of action

  • Able to see and communicate the big picture in an inspiring way

  • Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity to detailed solutions. You can take a vague problem, crisply frame the challenge, identify a path forward, and drive an initiative over the finish-line.

  • Calm under pressure; maintains stable performance when under heavy pressure or stress

  • Copes effectively with complexity and change

  • Efficiency (Able to produce significant output with minimal wasted effort; find new ways of operating, with a focus on simplification and productivity; drive for process improvements, understand best practices)

  • Integrity (Does not cut corners; earns trust and maintains confidences; does what is right not what is politically expedient; speaks plainly)

  • Sound business judgment

  • Experience developing new and improving existing processes, and demonstrated flexibility to get things done.

  • Detail-oriented and able to understand the bigger picture by using your technical expertise and problem solving abilities to prioritize and manage blocking issues.

  • Experience working in a highly cross-functional environment where communication with multiple groups is imperative.

  • Ability to ramp up quickly and learn new technologies with minimal lag time.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and people skills

  • Lets others speak and seeks to understand their viewpoints; openness to criticism and others ideas; openly solicits feedback

  • BA/BS degree, 9 years technical project management or relevant experience

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
