About the role

D-Wave is seeking a self-motivated Staff Process Integration Engineer to support the development and production of superconducting IC fabrication processes at our partner foundries. Prior experience in superconductivity is a plus but not required.

In this role, you will lead process development initiatives, maintain and improve the process of record (POR) for production, and collaborate closely with foundry partners. You will play a key role in advancing next-generation superconducting technologies in a highly innovative environment.

Our proprietary fabrication platform features advanced capabilities, including multiple critical current density (Jc) targets, seven wiring layers, planarized dielectrics, 0.25 µm features, and submicron Josephson junctions. Our processors integrate over one million Josephson junctions, representing some of the most complex superconducting circuits ever built. This role offers the opportunity to develop processes at the forefront of semiconductor innovation.

What you'll do

  • Lead process development initiatives in collaboration with foundry partners

  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments using statistical methods to improve process performance and yield

  • Own and optimize critical fabrication steps or modules within the process flow

  • Maintain and enhance the process of record (POR) for production

  • Drive yield, performance, and reliability improvements through process optimization

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (design, device, reliability) to meet product requirements

  • Collaborate with foundries to troubleshoot issues and implement process improvements in production

  • Document and standardize processes, specifications, and control plans

  • Communicate technical results and recommendations to stakeholders and senior leadership

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred)

  • 6+ years of experience in process integration (preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes, including thin film deposition, lithography, etch, diffusion, wet processing, and CMP

  • Experience in LSI manufacturing or semiconductor R&D (strongly preferred)

  • Solid understanding of process integration, yield, performance, and reliability interactions

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment and meet deadlines

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
