Sr. Manager - Underwriting
What You’ll Do
The main function of this role will be to lead actuarial functions and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders, with particular focus on evaluating new business opportunities. TheSenior Manager, Actuarialwill execute work assignments using actuarial and statistical methods. The role will include the benefit of an actuarial study programdesigned to motivateand support you through your exams. This role will report to the Senior Director, Actuarial.
The Day to Day
Work closely with our business development team in developing opportunity assessments for new clients or expansions with existing clients.
Refine the opportunity assessment model to leverage more & better industry data as well as more specific operating assumptions.
Support the contracting team by evaluating the financial impact of key contractual terms.
Develop client-specific assumptions for new business as a part of the broader Finance budgeting process.
Partner with FP&A to refine operating model assumptions supporting new business evaluation.
Represent Finance on the Strategic Pricing committee.
Manage a team of one analyst.
Create and present materials for client presentations, clearly communicating Strive’s impact.
Partner with key stakeholders across Strive’s Finance, Client Success, and Growth functions to identify data-driven opportunities to add value to existing and potential partners.
Present models and delivers insights/expertise to a diverse audience and communicates analyses and results to internal and external partners.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
7+ years experience in Actuarial services, Healthcare Economics, or related field.
3+ years experience in Medicare Advantage.
Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA).
Internet Connectivity - Min Speeds: 3.8Mbps/3.0Mbps (up/down): Latency <60 ms.
Ability to travel and be onsite to meet business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience applying or reviewing medical claim grouper logic.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience in value-based care preferred.
Experience with CMS shared savings programs strongly preferred.
Experience in Commercial, Medicaid or Medicare analysis.
Experience using advanced Microsoft Excel functions and SQL.
Annual Base Salary Range: $108,500 - $136,000
