Sr. Fullstack Software Engineer, Market Expansion

Role Overview

The Market Expansion team at Recharge is a very flexible and adaptive feature team responsible for rapidly iterating on new features and building out custom integrations. Its goal is to expand what is possible for merchants at Recharge, building out Proof of Concepts to address the intricate requirements of Recharge’s most valuable and high profile merchants. The Market Expansion team supports a BigCommerce integration and any merchants outside of the Shopify ecosystem.

In this role, you will be a core contributor in ensuring the market expansion stack is modern, performant, and reliable for merchant administrators. You will develop, maintain, and debug features iteratively while prioritizing incremental delivery. 

You will collaborate to clarify, theorize, figure out, and decide solutions to complex problems closely with your team. Ensuring the team delivers is critical to our success, which will require thorough code reviews, quality releases, and being in an on-call rotation.

You will be responsible for being flexible and agile as new opportunities and complex features are requested. You will be expected to work closely with Product and QA to make sure new discoveries are communicated appropriately. 

As a senior engineer on the team, you will be responsible for evangelizing best practices for component contributions, architecture patterns, and development practices enabling other feature teams to develop quickly.

  • Perform thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback

  • Embrace rapid iterative design, testing, and development to gain context and understanding along the way informing the next useful step in delivering value

  • Develop Proof of Concept and incremental features, while ensuring design and component library contributions meet Recharge UI/UX standards and established business logic patterns

  • Investigate, analyze, and evangelize programming methodologies

  • Champion good habits (development techniques, security, and tech debt balance) amongst your peers while advocating for improved engineering standards, tooling, and processes

  • Collaborate with product and engineering management to inform roadmap timeline and identify approaches to release product features incrementally

  • Participate in all phases of the Product Development Lifecycle with product and engineering management to inform technical viability of product and engineering initiatives for key stakeholders

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years of relevant development experience in fast-paced environments

  • Willingness to learn and experiment to reach a desired outcome

  • A knack for engineering simple solutions to solve complex problems iteratively

  • Experience building, launching, and supporting new product features

  • Self-driven; pragmatic; a passion for taking ownership of your work and delivering outcomes

  • Ability to demonstrate high self-sufficiency to take on and complete projects in a timely manner

  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Willingness to develop, maintain, and debug product features throughout the stack

  • Experience with large-scale frontend architecture, framework migration, component and design library systems is preferred

  • Experience with a frontend frameworks such as React or Vue is preferred

  • Prior experience with Python and Fastapi/Flask (or similar backend web frameworks) is preferred

Experience / Education / Qualifications

  • Typically, 5+ years of relevant development experience in fast-paced environments

  • 3+ years of experience programming in at least one OO language (Python preferred)

  • 2+ years of experience programming in frontend JavaScript frameworks (React or Vue preferred)

  • 1+ years of experience in cloud-native environments such as GCP, AWS, or Azure

  • Good understanding of Devops, CI/CD, and configuration management tools

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Prior e-commerce experience is preferred
