Purpose

We are looking for a generalist Software Engineer who is excited about creating and supporting web services that provide the core functionality for the financial ecosystem, considering functional and nonfunctional requirements, as well as collaborating with other teams to evolve such services towards our technological vision.

The ideal candidate is passionate about mentoring and supporting other software engineers, and is comfortable collaborating with different teams to accomplish their team's goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Software Engineers are responsible for collaborating with her team, and supporting other team members to achieve the team’s goals. Also they must deliver at the expectations quantitatively and qualitatively.

  • Software Engineers are responsible for understanding the business so they can evaluate the trade-offs accordingly and make informed decisions. As well as identifying and promoting areas of improvement for deliverables, practices and processes, such as identifying and prioritizing tech debt.

  • Software Engineers are responsible for collaborating during the early analysis of a project, helping the team estimate medium to complex projects, and supporting the team to translate business requirements into technical requirements.

  • Habitually:

  • Understand the underlying problem when facing a challenge.

  • Design and implement solutions for the problems.

  • Write software to achieve the business and team’s goals.

  • Fix bugs and resolve incidents.

  • Identify and communicate risks.

  • Support and promote best practices among the team.

  • Mentor and support other Software Engineers.

  • Ensure the team remains focused on the objective of the project.

Periodically:

  • Learn and improve at the technologies, processes and best practices defined by the team.

  • Write the necessary documentation.

  • Troubleshoot bugs and incidents.

  • Help the team to triage the bugs and problems that arise.

  • Code reviewing.

  • Monitor the systems and services the team is responsible for.

  • Participate actively in the team’s ceremonies.

  • Prepare and conduct technical interviews.

  • Participate in early discussions for medium to complex projects.

  • Help the team break down complex projects into manageable pieces.

Occasionally:

  • Pair programming with teammates when required.

  • Support the team to on-board new engineers.

  • Collaborate with tech leads and architects to evolve the architecture.

  • Propose and carry on initiatives for continuous improvement.

Position Requirements

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in software engineering

  • Strong experience in Software Engineering in backend with Ruby

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms

  • Knowledge of software architecture

  • Database management (postgreSQL)

  • Knowledge of SOAP

  • Knowledge of MVC

  • Knowledge of REST

  • Knowledge of relational and no relational data base

  • Experience workin with microservices

  • Understanding of the elements of good code.

  • Experience and understanding of software design patterns.

  • Experience with at least one database engine.

  • Experience of integrating, designing and building APIs.

  • Experience deploying and maintaining software products in production.

  • Experience with at least one architectural pattern (i.e. MVC)Experience delivering solutions that require multiple iterations.

  • Experience considering non functional requirements from the very beginning of the design.

  • Experience balancing business, product and technology when making decisions.
