THE CHALLENGE

Eventbrite has built its business on empowering event creators with solutions to enable their success. In the process, we have touched millions of consumers, helping them get together, explore their interests, and pursue their passions through live experiences. Now, we’re embarking on a journey to make Eventbrite the go-to destination for consumers looking to discover live events.

To help us deliver on this ambitious vision, we are on the hunt for a talented Software Engineer who gets excited to understand our users, is passionate about Search, Relevance, and tackling those problems through the ML/AI lens, and lives and breathes data to make decisions. Sounds like you? Let’s talk.

THE TEAM

The Eventbrite Discovery pillar is tackling the challenge of establishing an effective, consistent, and relevant discovery experience to our consumers. Our team is committed to building a discovery experience that will increasingly feel like it was made just for you. Our team is currently looking for a data obsessed, highly collaborative person that will help us build intelligent systems to best serve our customers. You will contribute to Eventbrite engineering’s culture of technical excellence through inclusivity, knowledge sharing, and mentorship. This is more than an opportunity to join an amazing team of 5-6 engineers with a variety of specialties, it is a chance to impact Eventbrite’s platform and organization at scale

THE ROLE

We aspire to be your go-to place to discover and engage with live experiences and the people connecting through them. How we surface and recommend live experiences to users is a critical component of delivering on our vision and the secret sauce for why people come back to Eventbrite over and over again. With the largest event inventory on the planet, and millions of consumers using the platform to discover things to do each month, our ability to connect the two is challenging and critical.

As a Software Engineer you’ll work closely with product, data science, design, and infrastructure teams to create end-to-end solutions that leverage ML models, personalization algorithms, and AI-driven insights to improve our discovery ecosystem. You’ll also influence architecture, mentor other engineers, and help shape how we build, test, and deploy software across the company

YOU WILL

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable systems across the stack — from frontend user interfaces to backend APIs and data-driven services

  • Develop and integrate ML/AI-based solutions for search ranking, recommendations, and personalization

  • Collaborate with data scientists to operationalize models in production and monitor their performance at scale

  • Partner with product and design to create intuitive, high-performance discovery experiences

  • Ensure code quality through thoughtful design, testing, and reviews

  • Contribute to architectural discussions and help evolve our technical direction

  • Continuously improve our engineering standards, CI/CD processes, and developer experience

  • Use AI-assisted coding tools (such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar) to enhance development speed, accuracy, and maintainability

  • Mentor peers and foster a culture of learning and innovation

THE SKILLSET

  • 2+ years of experience building and maintaining full-stack software applications

  • Strong experience in high-level languages such as Python, TypeScript, or Kotlin

  • Experience designing and developing scalable backend systems (Node.js, Django, FastAPI, etc.)

  • Hands-on experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc.)

  • Experience with ML/AI/LLMs at scale (OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude, Llama, Gemini, etc.)

  • Experience designing and developing APIs (REST/GraphQL) and microservices architecture

  • Proficiency using AI coding assistants such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/Fargate, etc.)

  • Strong testing, maintainability, and code quality practices

  • Pragmatic and outcome-driven mindset — able to balance quality, speed, and business impact

  • Strong collaboration skills in a remote-first, cross-functional environment

  • Commitment to building maintainable, tested, and high-quality software

BONUS POINTS FOR

  • Familiarity with Recommender Systems, Personalization, Search & Relevance, or Embeddings

  • Experience with multi-stage ranking or federated search systems

  • Experience with Deep Learning Frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras)

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and observability tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Datadog, Grafana, etc.)

  • Prior work on consumer discovery, content personalization, or search ranking systems at scale
