Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Data Quality Team is a critical component of our organization. We ensure the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of our data, enabling it to drive smart decision-making, foster innovation, and guide strategic initiatives. Our team develops and implements robust Data Quality solutions, making data validation, cleansing, and monitoring an efficient and effective process across all Data Assets.

In addition, we:

  • Deploy comprehensive Data Quality frameworks and tools to maintain the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness of our Data Assets.

  • Implement automated data quality checks and monitoring systems to proactively identify and address data issues.

  • Develop and maintain data quality metrics and dashboards to provide visibility into the health of our data ecosystem.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and enforce data quality standards and best practices.

  • Design and implement data cleansing and enrichment processes to enhance the overall quality of our data.

  • Provide support and guidance to data consumers, ensuring they can confidently rely on high-quality data for their analyses and decision-making.

What you’ll do

We’re looking for engineers with a strong background or interest in building successful platforms, systems and data pipelines; you’re passionate about data, you are comfortable in dealing with lots of moving pieces; and you’re comfortable learning new technologies and systems. As a Software Engineer, you’ll be empowered to make decisions and build solutions with a significant impact on Stripe while making our systems a delight to use.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 2-5 years of professional experience writing high quality production level code

  • Finds joy in designing and implementing data-intensive applications

  • Has a knack for creative problem-solving, designing, and delivering effective solutions for our users

  • Enjoys different facets of product development, from architectural design and planning to conducting user interviews and writing code

Preferred qualifications

  • Is versed in various software languages and frameworks, such as Ruby, Typescript, Scala, Java, React, GraphQL, Mongo, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Flink, Iceberg, Splunk, and Grafana

  • Experience developing, maintaining and debugging distributed systems

  • Able to reason clearly and move with urgency in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment

  • Experience with data quality tools (e.g. Deequ, Soda, Great Expectations), with proven ability to implement and optimize these in large-scale environments

  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts, especially as applied to data quality
