At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

We launched a new ad-supported tier in November 2022 and we are now in the third season of ads.

Our new tier allows us to offer our members more choice in how they consume content, attract new members at a lower price point, and create a compelling path for advertisers to reach deeply engaged audiences. We are well into year four of our advertising journey with more exciting things to come!

Our Team

Our team is new yet faces the enormous ambition of building highly performant advertising systems and delivering high impact to our business by monetizing our incredible slate of content. As one of the newest entrants in the rapidly growing Connected TV advertising space, we seek to build unique value propositions that help us differentiate from the competition and become a market leader in record time.

The Ads Platform Engineering org builds advertising systems and integrations that power ad delivery using our world-class content delivery ecosystem. We use a number of Netflix investments and innovations to power our ads, a unique mix of client and server-side ad insertions, state-of-the-art content delivery systems, ad encoding recipes, content understanding and metadata, and more. We deliver ads in a manner that's thoughtful of our members' viewing experience and drive great outcomes for advertisers.

The Account Foundations team owns the accounts domain for Netflix Ads, i.e the system that defines who our advertisers are, what they're eligible for, and how they transact. It sounds like table stakes, but we don't have a lot of the moving pieces in place yet. Today, account data is scattered across systems, hierarchies are incomplete, and too much of what should be automated is still done manually. Every team building on top of advertiser data, such as sales workflows, media planning, programmatic integrations, and packaging, runs into these gaps. Our job is to fix that from the ground up and make sure it doesn't become a problem again, as the business scales.

We're working across four areas:

  • Core Accounts: We're rebuilding the account data model that can actually represent how advertisers and agencies are structured in the real world, representing HoldCo hierarchies, brand relationships, and multi-tier agency structures with strong governance being enforced. This also enables the creation of externalized APIs, allowing advertisers and agencies to view and manage their accounts.

  • Account Intelligence: We're building the enrichment layer to identify where advertisers spend externally, how they're structured, and whether our internal data matches reality.

  • Account Cohort and Verification Automation: Cohort assignment and identity verification are both manual today and both scale linearly with advertiser growth. Handling these problems at scale in an automated manner will be one of the key drivers of our long term success.

  • Spend Attribution: We are investing in the automated attribution engine responsible for mapping programmatic spend due to ads originating from DSPs we are integrated with, back to advertisers, agencies, and ad accounts across all supply channels. By leveraging confidence scoring and explainable reasoning,

The work is foundational, which means it's both high leverage and high stakes, as well as a truly zero-to-one space. The architectural decisions we make now will be load-bearing for every team in Netflix Ads for years. If you're drawn to problems where getting the architecture right the first time actually matters, this is the team for you.

We are looking for highly motivated engineers working in the advertising space who are excited to join us on this journey.

Skills & experience we’re seeking:

  • 7+ years of experience building cloud-based applications with modern programming languages

  • 4+ years of experience in Ads domain on demand side systems

  • Broad knowledge of ad tech and advertising landscape, programmatic advertising, and digital marketing trends.

  • Experience in building multi-tenant, API-first services, including REST/GraphQL best practices, versioning/backward-compatibility concerns, and spec-driven design patterns (OpenAPI, Avro, Protobuf).

  • Familiarity with API Gateway patterns around authentication, authorization, rate limiting, load shedding, and ingress control.

  • Familiarity with Object/Entity lifecycle management and data governance associated with it.

  • Operational excellence experience with customer-facing APIs, including SLO tracking, incident management, and observability tooling,

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Nice to haves:

  • Contributed to an ads industry technology standard (e.g  VAST, OpenRTB) or worked on an industry consortium effort, working group etc.

  • Working knowledge of AI/ML/genAI techniques and an ability to apply them to the account management lifecycle or API reliability monitoring.

  • Early experience with customer-facing MCP concerns, such as defining tools contracts,  security concerns (prompt injection, data exfiltration), and integration with other AI agents.

  • Experience working in the CTV space and knowledge of its unique constraints
