Social Media Manager

Location: Remote. 

Global is fine as long as you’re available from 8am-noon PT for occasional meetings.

 

Hey! I’m Marina. I’m a content creator expanding into a new niche: mindset, motivation, and productivity.

I’m looking for a Social Media Manager to own my social presence across platforms and help me grow a highly engaged audience and email list. Long-term, I want to write a book, and this role is critical in building the audience and community that will support that.

You’ll own the entire social media strategy from ideation, content creation (video + non-video) to analytics and engagement. Your north star will be to grow my reach, deepen engagement, and drive people to my channels and newsletter.

 

Here are my existing channels (all relatively new!)

  • Newsletter

  • Instagram reels and carousels

  • TikTok

  • And short form on YouTube

 

The top 5 things I’m prioritizing and specifically hiring for are:

  1. Love of social media. You’re obsessed with TikTok, Reels, Stories, carousels, and all the little levers that make content work. You think about things like hooks, scroll-stoppers, and shareability.

  2. Growth mindset + strategy. You care about experiments, funnels, and metrics. You’re always asking yourself things like “How does this post move people closer to following, subscribing, or converting?”

  3. Deadlines are sacred to you. I deeply value honoring commitments. Being on time with deliverables will be core to your success in the role.

  4. Communication. You’re clear, honest, and proactive. You keep me updated, share what you’re testing, and can give and receive feedback without ego.

  5. Interest in mindset, motivation, and productivity. You genuinely like these topics and are excited to immerse yourself in them, not just treat them like generic “self-help content.”

 

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Content & Strategy

    • Own and execute the social media strategy for:

      • Instagram (Reels, carousels, Stories, feed posts, giveaways, polls, Q&As)

      • TikTok

      • YouTube Shorts

    • Develop and maintain clear content pillars and recurring series.

    • Design a growth funnel to newsletter sign ups.

    • Proactively bring growth ideas: collaborations, trends to tap into, series concepts, and ways to turn views into subscribers.

  • Scripting

    • Source video ideas from my pile of notes (I’m writing a book so there’s a lot) and help me turn them into short form video concepts and/or carousels.

    • Ensure all content is aligned with my brand voice.

  • Visuals

    • Create carousels that simplify frameworks, big ideas, or mindset shifts in a way that people want to save and share.

    • Handle light design using tools like Canva, Figma, etc..

  • Editing

    • Edit short-form videos yourself or work with an editor, depending on your skillset. Either way, you’ll be responsible for quality and performance.

  • Posting

    • Use Buffer or related tools to schedule content consistently.

  • Community & Engagement

    • Monitor and respond to comments and DMs in a way that feels aligned with my voice.

    • Surface recurring questions, themes people are struggling with, etc. for future content ideas.

  • Analytics

    • Regularly review analytics on all platforms: What content drives the most follows, saves, shares, and clicks to the newsletter? What topics, hooks, or formats punch above their weight?

    • Share concise performance summaries so we can make decisions quickly together.

  • (Future) Expanded Responsibilities

    • Depending on your strengths and interests, the role could expand to include:

      • Helping with launches (courses, products, book-related projects).

      • Supporting additional channels (for example, my newsletter).

 

Time Commitment

This is an hourly role. I expect it to be around 10 hours per week to start.

We’ll have one or two weekly check-ins for strategy, questions, and brainstorming, but otherwise your schedule is yours to manage.

 

Compensation

Please include your hourly rate in the application. I am flexible on compensation for the right person, depending on location and experience level.

As the brand and channels grow, I’d love to discuss revenue share or performance-based bonuses, especially tied to growth and list-building milestones.

 

Expectations

  1. You must already use and love short-form and social media. You should actively use and analyze TikTok, Instagram, and/or Shorts. You’re the kind of person who asks yourself things like “Why did that Story sequence keep me watching? Why did that super simple carousel go viral? What made that CTA so effective?”

  2. You must be a native or fluent English speaker.

  3. You should have some relevant experience. This could look like managing social media accounts for yourself or a brand, editing short-form content, creating and growing your own TikTok/IG accounts, or working in social strategy, content marketing, or community management.

  4. I need someone who is detail-oriented. You must take your work seriously and care about the quality of your output. Mention your favorite band in the application if you read this sentence.

  5. You are punctual. I said this at the start, but this is my #1 pet peeve. If we agree to a deadline, that deadline must be met (or you need to proactively communicate to me).

  6. You can give and receive feedback. We will test a lot: formats, hooks, CTAs, campaigns. Some things will flop. That’s fine as long as we can talk about it openly and learn from it!
