Ro is a direct-to-patient healthcare company with a mission of helping patients achieve their health goals by delivering the easiest, most effective care possible. Ro is the only company to offer nationwide telehealth, labs, and pharmacy services. This is enabled by Ro's vertically integrated platform that helps patients achieve their goals through a convenient, end-to-end healthcare experience spanning from diagnosis, to delivery of medication, to ongoing care. Since 2017, Ro has helped millions of patients in nearly every single county in the United States, including 98% of primary care deserts.

The healthcare system today is not designed to help patients achieve their goals. It’s designed around institutions such as hospitals and insurance companies. A patient centric healthcare system is one that is designed around the goals a patient wants to achieve. We’re building healthcare that puts patients in control, provides reactive and proactive care, has transparent pricing and process, is extremely effective and ridiculously convenient, and evolves over time based on patients’ goals.

Ro has been recognized as a Fortune Best Workplace in New York and Health Care for four consecutive years (2021-2024). In 2023, Ro was also named Best Workplace for Parents for the third year in a row. In 2022, Ro was listed as a CNBC Disruptor 50.

We’re looking for a Senior User Experience Researcher (UXR) to join our team at Ro. In this role, you’ll drive insights that directly shape the design and experience of our products, ensuring that patient needs are at the core of everything we build. Embedded in the design cycle, you’ll partner closely with our designers to ensure user research guides our solutions from concept to execution. You’ll have the opportunity to influence the entire product strategy—translating patient pain points into actionable insights that improve both user experience and business outcomes. This is a pivotal role, leading the way in how we embed user experience research into design and drive meaningful impact across the product life cycle.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive Strategic Product Insights - Develop a deep understanding of our patients, identifying their needs, pain points, and opportunities that help shape our opportunities and solutions throughout the design process

  • Collaborate Closely with Product Design - Partner closely with designers to provide actionable insights, inform the development of new products and features, validate concepts, and conduct usability testing

  • Represent the Patient in Design Decisions - As part of the broader Insights function, you will be the voice of our patients in every design discussion, ensuring that their needs and perspectives are represented in both large-scale product strategies and day-to-day design decisions

  • Establish and Scale Research Within Our Design Organization - As the first UXR hire dedicated to product design, you will be responsible for establishing and scaling impactful research within our design organization. You’ll establish best practices, ensure research is embedded in the design process, and help foster a culture that balances thoughtful work with speed to impact on the business.

  • Orient Towards Action - Deliver research that not only uncovers insights, but drives action. Your work will power the team to move quickly towards building better experiences for patients. And you will work closely with your stakeholders to make sure insights from patients are adopted, and that decisions are aligned to both patient and business needs.

What You'll Bring to the Team:

  • 7+ years of experience in UX research, with at least 5+ years working in digital product environments, preferably in Digital Health or DTC.

  • Proven expertise in qualitative research methods, including moderating interviews and focus groups, with additional comfort in quantitative research and survey analysis.

  • Experience collaborating with PMs and designers to integrate research insights into product development, iterating on designs and prototypes.

  • Strong storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate research findings and recommendations to diverse stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple research projects simultaneously, with a focus on prioritization and strategic alignment with business goals.

  • Experience working autonomously and as part of cross-functional teams.

  • Self-starter mentality with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.

  • Experience with Figma or similar design tools to ensure seamless collaboration with design teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in consumer product research, applied research, or product development.

  • A degree in a human behavior-related field (e.g., Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, Communication, Information Science), though experience may be substituted for education.

  • Expertise with core research methodologies, and experience creating strategic narratives from research findings.

We've Got You Covered:

  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance + OneMedical membership

  • Healthcare and Dependent Care FSA

  • 401(k) with company match

  • Flexible PTO

  • Wellbeing + Learning & Growth reimbursements

  • Paid parental leave + Fertility benefits

  • Pet insurance

  • Student loan refinancing

  • Virtual resources for mindfulness, counseling, fitness, and physical therapy

The target base salary for this position ranges from $134,700 to $166,500, in addition to a competitive benefits package (as applicable). When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. These considerations may cause your compensation to vary.

Ro recognizes the power of in-person collaboration, while supporting the flexibility to work anywhere in the United States. For our Ro’ers in the tri-state (NY) area, you will join us at HQ on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For those outside of the tri-state area, you will be able to join in-person collaborations throughout the year (i.e., during team on-sites).

At Ro, we believe that our diverse perspectives are our biggest strengths — and that embracing them will create real change in healthcare. As an equal opportunity employer, we provide equal opportunity in all aspects of employment, including recruiting, hiring, compensation, training and promotion, termination, and any other terms and conditions of employment without regard to race, ethnicity, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, familial status, age, disability and/or any other legally protected classification protected by federal, state, or local law.
