ABOUT THE TEAM 🤝
The AI team at Rocket Money is a bit different than the other engineering teams. Due to the ever-changing nature of the space, we need to be even more agile and responsive to changes from outside our walls. We focus on our unique value proposition, rather than things that may be commoditized by AI in the near future. We are rethinking what a personal financial companion is in an AI-first world. The engineers on this team are exploring and driving these efforts forward. There is no product manager on the team, so we (and you) are expected to fill that role.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL:
Work with a high level of autonomy, making and evaluating decisions that typically require critical thinking and understanding trade-offs, as well as knowing when to escalate concerns or gather feedback.
Manage one or more small teams of Full-Stack Engineers and ensure a healthy & productive working environment.
Maintain tight feedback loops with your direct reports, holding regular check-ins and ensuring that they are able to make progress and that their needs are met.
Create ambitious yet achievable quarterly roadmaps that drive our business forward, deliver great user experiences, and improve the long-term health of our systems.
Be accountable for making, measuring, and delivering on team commitments, as well as pivoting when necessary in order to keep the team focused on the most impactful work.
Challenge assumptions and embrace transformation to remove friction and solve organizational problems in partnership with other engineering leaders.
Ensure that teams are staffed appropriately to deliver high quality work with accuracy, speed, and efficiency, working with our People & Recruiting team to create hiring plans.
Invest in your team by building and supporting growth plans with engineers and identifying opportunities to grow the team thoughtfully in partnership with engineering leadership and our People Team.
ABOUT YOU 🦄
You are an engineer by trade, with a history of shipping production code and working with product teams to design & build user-friendly features.
You have 2+ years of experience managing one or more engineering teams.
You're excited to discuss high-level architecture and technical direction but comfortable deferring to the engineers and technical leads on the implementation.
You can tailor your management style to suit your employees, identifying where some people might succeed with a more hands-off approach than others.
You love working with generative AI and see its applications everywhere you look. Prompt engineering is just another form of hacking to you.
Experience with data infrastructure / machine learning topics is a plus.
Experience with FinTech or consumer apps is a plus.

Additional information: Salary range of $170,000 - $200,000/year + bonus + benefits. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
